Sandra Bernhard continues to tour nationally and overseas with her new live show Sandyland, spotlighting her own unique, sharp blend of hysterical insight and outspoken views, with rock-n-roll, cabaret, stand-up and a little burlesque. Sandyland, which also features Bernhard's band The Flawless Zircons, has been selling out venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and all points in between.
Sandra Bernhard began her career at L.A.'s famed Comedy Store in the '70s and has since conquered all areas of entertainment, having written and starred in numerous one-woman shows, acted in various films and on television, recorded albums and authored books. Career highlights include her first film role in Martin Scorsese's iconic The King of Comedy and her highly-acclaimed one-woman live shows Without You I'm Nothing, I'm Still Here... Dammit!, Everything Bad and Beautiful and I Love Being Me, Don't You. On television, from 1991-1996, she played Nancy Bartlett - the first openly gay character on a network sitcom - on Roseanne, while earlier this year, she joined the cast of the Peabody Award winning ABC Family television drama Switched at Birth, now in its third season, in a recurring role. She has also had numerous guest-starring TV appearances in between and her music albums include I'm Your Woman, Excuses for Bad Behavior and the world music album Whatever It Takes (Mi5). She has also sung with or opened for various musical acts, including The Pretenders, Cyndi Lauper, and The Scissor Sisters.Photo Credit: Kevin Thomas Garcia
