Check out the trailer for this year's SYNESTHESIA featuring Ruby Karen, Aldo Pisano, John Bobek, Marc Rosenthal, Michael Bonnabel, John Achorn, Rocco Vitacco and Michael Dunn. Athena Theatre In Association with Bootleg Theater are presenting "Synesthesia," Artistic Telephone Across the Genres created by Electric Pear Productions and directed by Cate Caplin. Fresh from its New York debut this May, "Synesthesia" will appear at the Bootleg Theater (2220 Beverly Blvd, LA 90057) Mondays ONLY @ 7:30PM, May 7th thru June 11th, 2012.
Now in its fifth season, "Synesthesia" is a live, annual event, which unites a select and diverse range of arts. "Synesthesia" originated as an Electric Pear exclusive production, conceived by Ashlin Halfnight and Melanie Sylvan, and was staged for the first time in 2007.
“Synesthesia” is a multi-medium art show displaying how eight artists of different genres inspire each other. The first artist was asked to select a fortune cookie. They had two weeks to create a piece inspired by the fortune. The next artist saw that creation and has two weeks to design his own piece inspired by the artist before him (never having seen the fortune). The next artist in the series interpreted that piece and then had two weeks to create a piece of his own. The process continued for 4 months, involving a total of eight performing artists.
