Hamilton is the room where it happens—a history remix that’s not throwing away its shot at dazzling you with rhyme, rhythm, and revolution. Founding fathers trade powdered wigs for mic drops as ambition rises faster than the tempo, and duels come with both pistols and punchlines. From the first note to the final bow, there’s a buoyant, almost mischievous energy humming beneath the revolution—and much of that comes from the standout performances who understand that comedy isn’t a distraction here, it’s fuel. This production of Hamilton will be performing at the Fisher theatre now through May 17th.

Aaron Burr (Protrayed by Jimmie Jeter), often played as the measured counterweight to Hamilton’s urgency, becomes something far more delicious in this interpretation. His restraint is still there, but it’s laced with dry humor, perfectly timed glances, and an almost conspiratorial rapport with the audience. Jimmie Jeter makes each pause feel intentional, and each raised eyebrow a punchline. The comedy doesn’t undercut his ambition—it sharpens it. By the time his story turns darker, the shift lands harder because we’ve been so thoroughly charmed.

And then there’s Thomas Jefferson played by Christian Magby, who doesn’t just enter the show—he arrives. Swaggering back from France with a grin and a groove, he quickly becomes the production’s heartbeat. Every moment Christian Magby is onstage pulses with comic precision, from his flamboyant physicality to his sly vocal inflections. His scenes don’t just entertain; they energize the entire cast, as if the show itself perks up to meet him. It’s impossible not to watch him, and just as impossible not to laugh.

In a musical bursting with ambition, intellect, and rapid-fire brilliance, Angelica somehow manages to steal the scene on each entrance. Every time Amanda Simone Lee (as Angelica) steps into the spotlight, the air seems to sharpen—suddenly the words land quicker, the stakes feel higher, and the entire show leans in just a little closer because she really is That girl. Angelica isn’t just quick-whitted; she’s dazzlingly aware of her own cleverness, and that’s where the magic lives. Her wit sparkles like a well-kept secret she’s generously letting the audience in on. There’s a playful confidence in the way Amanda Simone Lee navigates every interaction, particularly in her verbal sparring, that feels both effortless and exhilarating. You get the sense she’s always three steps ahead—and kind enough to make it entertaining for everyone else.

Together, these performances remind you that Hamilton isn’t just a story of legacy and loss—it’s a show that thrives on personality. Here, humor doesn’t sit on the sidelines; it dances front and center, making the history feel immediate, electric, and irresistibly human. Hamilton bursts onto the stage like a firework that refuses to fizzle, and this production leans gleefully into its wit as much as its history.
