Over the Moon Opens SPRING AWAKENING

By:

Over the Moon Productions presents the L.A. intimate theatre premiere of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, SPRING AWAKENING, with music by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, musical direction by Rachael Lawrence, choreography by Laura Harrison, directed by Kate Sullivan (Rent: Downtown L.A.) and starring Lindsay Heather Pearce (Harmony on "Glee," "The Glee Project) and Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal on the ABC Family series "Pretty Little Liars").

SPRING AWAKENING will preview on Wednesday, March 14 and Thursday March 15 at 8pm and will open on Friday, March 16th and continue through Sunday, April 22 at the Theatre of Arts Arena Stage, 1625 N. Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood.

This L.A. intimate theatre premiere production of SPRING AWAKENING is the rock musical adaptation of the 1892 German play by Frank Wedekind.  Set in late-19th century Germany, it concerns a group of teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer tumult of their awakening sexuality and the complications that arise because of them.

SPRING AWAKENING received eleven 2007 Tony Award nominations, winning eight, including Tonys for best musical, direction, book, score and featured actor. Although the cultural landscape has changed quite a bit since Wedekind wrote his play in the late 1800's, the enduring themes are still as timely and topical as ever.
