Outside In Theatre's world‑premiere production of O: A Rhapsody in Divorce has been extended through June 16. The extension follows sold‑out performances and enthusiastic word‑of‑mouth for a play that reclaims the epic hero's journey for women in their forties and invites audiences to laugh, cry and celebrate the power of starting over. This production concludes Outside In's inaugural season.
Jami Brandli's reimagining The Odyssey through a modern lens, O: A Rhapsody in Divorce follows O, a successful neurobiologist in her 40s whose world is turned upside down when her husband asks for a separation, but refuses to leave their home. Displaced and untethered, O embarks on a couch-hopping journey that blends memory, science, and surreal theatricality. She discovers unconventional and magical ways to reassemble the blown-up pieces of her life as she struggles to navigate her way back toward a "new home."
EXTENDED PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
The extension of O: A Rhapsody in Divorce runs Saturday, June 13 at 8 PM, Sunday, June 14 at 8 PM, Monday, June 15 at 8 PM, and Tuesday, June 16 at 8 PM, (Regular performances continue Saturdays-Tuesdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM through June 9.) All performances are at Outside In Theatre, 5317 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042.
On Sunday June 14, playwright Jami Brandli will lead a free Aristotle's Six Dramatic Elements writing workshop from 12-1:30 PM in the Lobby. It will be a 90 minute seminar covering Aristotle's Six Elements of drama: Character, Action, Ideas, Language, Music and Spectacle/Theatricality.
