Nancy Berry's Debut Photo Exhibit FOR THE LIGHT OF THE DANCE Set for 5/18 at Pacific Design Center

By:

Nancy Berry makes her exhibition debut with her "For the Dance of the Light," photography show featuring self-portraits and landscapes. The exhibit will be open to the public for one day only on Friday, May 18 from 10am - 5pm at the Pacific Design Center (8687 Melrose Ave Suite B315- 3rd Floor) in West Hollywood.

Berry, who began shooting only six years ago, is self-taught having developed her style through experimentation and exploration. Shooting exclusively in natural light and outdoor wilderness locations, Berry creates effects and applies them to the camera to color enhance and alter her images. It is the combination of these effects along with camera adjustments that produce an intriguing ephemeral effect. The effects in her images are in-camera, not computer generated, and the elements used to create the effects are destroyed after shooting so that the series can never be exactly replicated.

"I approach photography from a place of wonder and 'what if,'" says Berry. "I like to experiment with new effects, ideas and approaches. Photography is a place of fantasy, fascination, and pure love for me."

Berry, herself, is responsible for all components of her photos - she's the photographer, the model, creates the camera effects, builds the sets in which she shoots and frequently makes the clothes she's wearing in the photographs. Berry photographs using a wide range of camera formats including contemporary and vintage digital, film and digital infrared.

Prior to her photography career, Berry enjoyed a successful career in the music industry for over two decades as the former Vice Chairman Virgin Music Group Worldwide and former Vice Chairman Virgin Records America.
