Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) rolls out the red carpet for Music Director Designate Jaime Martín, welcoming him to the LACO family prior to the launch of his tenure next fall, and honors Margaret Batjer on her 20th anniversary as LACO Concertmaster with its annual Concert Gala on Thursday, May 2, 2019, 6 pm, at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

The evening's musical centerpiece, led by Martín, features LACO musicians in Manuel De Falla's extraordinary sung ballet El Amor Brujo with guest artist Suzanna Guzmán, Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin with honoree Batjer and LACO's Principal Oboe/Allan Vogel Chair (endowed by the Henry Family) Claire Brazeau and Bach's Concerto for Two Violins with Batjer and celebrated violinist Cho-Liang Lin.

The Concert Gala, which also includes a curated silent auction, crafted cocktails, wine, hors d'oeuvres and a sumptuous three-course dinner prepared by the hotel's Executive Chef Igor Krichmar, is co-chaired by Carol Henry, a Pasadena resident, and Anne-Marie Spataru, a West Los Angeles resident. Committee members include Clare Baren, Debbie Cussen, Jennifer Diener, Ruth L. Eliel, Peggy Falcon, Anne Grausam, Diane Henderson, Terri Kohl, Shaheen Nanji, Catherine Ohr, Bridget Prince, Gene Shutler, Joyce Sommer, Mist Thorkelsdottir and Lauren Wing.
