Kritzerland to Present THE SONGS OF RUPERT HOLMES Featuring Holmes Himself

By:

For the 75th Kritzerland show we are thrilled to present the amazing songs of the amazing Rupert Holmes. Rupert burst on the scene in the early 1970s with his brilliant album, Widescreen, and he followed that with many others, all of them equally brilliant. He also worked with Barbra Streisand on her album Lazy Afternoon, which he arranged and conducted, as well as contributing four songs. He also worked with Streisand on her film version of A Star Is Born, and several of her other albums. His breakout hit was "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)," and he's also written songs for Dolly Parton, Barry Manilow, Dionne Warwick and many others. Many of his songs were frequent chart toppers on Billboard. But that's only the tip of the Holmes line - he also wrote the Broadway musical Drood, for which he won two Tony Awards, and he also wrote the books for the musicals Curtains, The First Wives Club. He wrote the plays Accomplice, Solitary Confinement, Say Goodnight, Gracie, created the beloved TV show Remember WENN, and recently adapted the John Grisham novel, A Time to Kill for the stage. He wrote the book and lyrics for The Nutty Professor, Marvin Hamlisch's last show, and as if that weren't enough, he is also an accomplished novelist.

Kritzerland host and producer Bruce Kimmel and Rupert are long-time friends, so this is a very personal show for Kritzerland. We've assembled a brilliant cast, and we even have a little band, with special musical guest, the great Grant Geissman on guitar. And best of all, we've got Rupert himself, who'll be singing a few of his hits. So, join us for what promises to be a fantastic and unique evening. We know everyone likes to wait until the last minute to reserve on Brown Paper tickets, but we'd advise not doing that this time around, as this show will most likely sell out very quickly. Kritzerland is produced and hosted by Bruce Kimmel and co-produced by Doug Haverty.
