Japanese American Cultural & Community Center Presents 'Timeless', 8/6
The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center 244 South San Pedro Street (between 2nd and 3rd Streets) present "Timeless" as part of its Movies on the Plaza series on Friday, August 6th. It was originally scheduled for July 23rd but has since changed. The event begins at 7 PM and admission is free.
"Timeless" is a series of three concert films featuring the music of composers/arrangers that have influenced hip-hop in the most profound ways- Mulatu Astatke, J.Dilla (Suite for Ma Dukes, and Arthur Verocai. More information on "Timeless" can be found on its website: www.mochilla.com/timeless
J.ROCC of the World Famous Beat Junkies will be mixing all three films live for this special outdoor screening, and Dublab will also be screening the best videos from their Vision Version film project.
The Movies on the Plaza program is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs. Founded in 1971, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center is one of the largest ethnic arts and cultural centers of its kind in the United States. The mission of the JACCC is to present, perpetuate, transmit and promote Japanese and Japanese American arts and culture to diverse audiences, and to provide a center to enhance community programs.
The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center is the preeminent presenter of Japanese and Japanese American, and Asian American performing and visual arts nationally.
