Inner Circle Theater presents its first full theatrical production and world premiere of "R+J =LOVE". Opening Valentine's Day, February 14, 2014, this unique adaption of Shakespeare's classic love story, "Romeo and Juliet," playfully challenges society's concept of equality through the artistic vision of director Casey Kringlen.
Audience members can expect a raw, energetic experience as they are transported into the world of Montague and Capulet through unconventional casting, staging and design. Set in two one hour acts, with a male-male Romeo and Juliet for one, and a female-female Romeo and Juliet for the other, the show promises to engage theatre goers artistically from the moment they enter The Well, a high fashion industrial space in Downtown Los Angeles that serves as the setting for the evening's extravaganza. Director Casey Kringlen states, "Within our polarized world, many young people suffer from lack of love, and misunderstanding. Some become bullies, and may lash out at others. Others may lash out at themselves, at times, becoming unfortunate victims of suicide. "R+J Equal Love" can be a cautionary tale that offers its audiences an opportunity to confront this unnecessary pain. The motive of this project is to remind us of the greater need to accept our responsibility for many who are suffering. As human beings, we share an ultimate responsibility to accept - and better yet, to provide for each other: True. Equal. Love."
