Hansen And Pieroni Star In The Production Company's SWEENEY TODD, Runs 9/18 Through 11/22

Renowned director Derek Charles Livingston and musical director Richard Berent bring Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical thriller SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET to The Production Company's Chandler Studio Theatre in a re-imagining of sheer theatrical lightning beginning September 18th, 2009. This ‘Sweeney' is up close and personal!

"There was a barber and his wife..." begins the pivotal revelation of one of the most breathtaking and haunting tales of the abuse of power, dark obsession and merciless vengeance ever written.

The cast for The Production Company's Sweeney Todd boasts some of the most amazing talent to be seen on a Los Angeles stage including Kurt Andrew Hansen as Sweeney (Broadway: Mama Mia opposite Tony nominated actress Carolee Carmello and Miss Saigon with Lea Salonga, Hinton Battle and Jonathan Price), Donna Peroni as Mrs. Lovett (Ahmanson Theatre, Odyssey Theatre, The Globe Theatre), Weston I. Nathanson as Judge Turpin (Fiddler on The Roof with Theodore Bikel, Singing In The Rain with Susan Egan and The Fantastics with Brian Stokes Mitchell), BrIan Maples as Anthony, Jenny Ashman as Johanna, Rob Herring as Tobias, Rick Cox as Beadle Bamford, R. Christopher Sands as Pirelli, Harmony Goodman as the Beggar Woman, and Nancy Dobbs Owen as Lucy.

Director Derek Charles Livingston's credits include: The Production Company's Shakespeare's R&J (Ovation nomination/Direction) and M Butterfly (LA Weekly Theatre Award nom/Direction). Producer/Co-producer of 20+ productions as Managing Artistic Director of Celebration Theatre, including: Sirena...., The Hungry Woman....; Christmas Time is Queer, Pinafore! (8 LA Weekly Awards, including Best Musical; Ovation nom, Best Musical; BackStage West/Garland Award, Best Production), Autumn Canticle (GLAAD LA Nomination/Best Production) -- all Frontiers Top Ten of the Year -- A New You, Pulp, et al. SWEENEY TODD - THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Hugh Wheeler.

The production is directed by Derek Charles Livingston. Gloria Bennett assistant directs the production, which is produced by August Viverito and TL Kolman.

Kurt Andrew Hansen and Donna Pieroni lead a cast which includes Jenny Ashman, Rick Cox, Harmony Goodman, Rob Herring, BrIan Maples, Weston I. Nathanson, Nancy Dobbs Owen and R. Christofer Sands.

SWEENEY TODD runs September 18th through November 22, 2009. It will play The Chandler Studio Theatre Center Fridays & Saturdays at 8 PM, with Sunday Matinees at 3 PM.
