By:

The upcoming Los Angeles reading of SOME MEN will inlude performances by Matt Gould, David Alan Grier, Justin Kirk and Jeffrey Tambor. As reported previously, Alan Cumming, John Glover, Luke MacFarlane, and Jason Ritter are also set for the production.

Los Angeles premiere of Terrence McNally's touching and hilarious play Some Men will benefit 'Testimony,' a project of the Courage Campaign Institute, in a one night only reading at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 8:00. Directed by Michael Morris, the play will be read by (in alphabetical order) Alan Cumming, John Glover, Luke MacFarlane, Jason Ritter, Steven Weber, and three more actors to be announced shortly. The event is being produced by Dan Bucatinsky, Susan Dietz, and Tom Kirdahy.

The host committee includes Bonnie Bruckheimer, Edie Falco, Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Cedering Fox, Daveen Fox, Allison Janney, Cherry Jones, Rashida Jones, Lisa Kudrow, Angela Lansbury, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, Mary McCormack, Marianna Palka, Rosie Perez, Christina Ricci, Doris Roberts, Kyra Sedgwick, Alicia Silverstone, Corky Hale Stoller, Marisa Tomei, Linda Wallem, Vanessa Williams, and Jamie Wolf, with more jumping onboard every day. Many of these women will attend the reading on October 4.

Some Men chronicles the lives of gay men in the United States over the past 80 years, examining the challenges, the victories, the joys and the sorrows of this history through the prism of love and marriage. Some Men had a successful run at the Second Stage Theater in New York City in 2007, with a cast that included Don Amendolia, Michael McElroy and Frederick Weller.

'Testimony,' a project of the Courage Campaign Institute, is designed to bring the Prop 8 trial into the lives of Americans and empower them - gay and straight - to share their stories and change the way America thinks about LGBT rights. The Courage Campaign is a network of more than 700,000 grassroots and "netroots" citizens empowered to leverage the tools of online activism to work for progressive change.

Tickets for this benefit reading of Some Men are $250, $100, $75, $50, and $25, and are available at TicketMaster: http://tinyurl.com/2b3743w. The $250 tickets include a post-performance, onstage reception with the cast and producers. Those unable to attend the reading on October 4 are encouraged to make a contribution to support the campaign's marriage equality work. To donate, please visit www.couragecampaign.org. The Saban Theatre is located at 8440 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
