Full Cast Announced for Festival of New American Musicals' MY MOTHER'S LESBIAN JEWISH WICCAN WEDDING

By:

What do you get when a straight white male discovers that his mother's a lesbian? A hilarious and heartfelt true story that celebrates love in all its forms! The hit of the 2009 Toronto Fringe and the 2010 New York Musical Theater Festival, My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding will make you laugh, cry and realize that nothing's impossible. MMLJWW debuted at the Toronto Fringe, sold out, and was immediately picked up by Mirvish Productions. A critical and financial success, it was extended five times and played to well over 50,000 people.

Having won Most Promising Musical, Best Book, Best Direction and an acting award in the 2010 NYMF awards and earning a nomination for Best Comedic Play in the Canadian Comedy Awards, MMLJWW now comes to Los Angeles.

MMLJWW follows Claire Gilman, newly divorced, as she relocates to Ottawa to begin a new life. There she meets Jane, and the pair fall in love. Set against the backdrop of the legalization of same sex marriage in Canada, the show traces the development of their relationship through the eyes of Claire’s son David.

Presented under the umbrella of the Festival for New American Musicals, as part of their First Look program, MMLJWW will be presented in a workshop/reading format, and is intended as a benefit for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, and the Festival for New American Musicals. Authors, and original stars David Hein and Irene Sankoff will be on hand to reprise their roles as themselves.

Lisa Horner, who gained much acclaim for creating the role of ‘Claire’ in the original Toronto productions will reprise the role, opposite local actress Melinda Messenger as ‘Jane.” Kate Pazakis (First national tour of the Lincoln Center production of SOUTH PACIFIC, Jerry Springer THE OPERA at Carnegie Hall, BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS) will play ‘Michele.’ As ‘Young David,’ is singer-songwriter Anthony Starble (fresh from SPRING AWAKENING at the Hayworth), and Christopher Spencer (‘Maurice’ in the national tour of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) plays ‘Garth.’ Ashley Whiting rounds out the company, playing multiple parts throughout the show.

Kate Sullivan Gibbens directs the show, fresh off a successful re-invention of SPRING AWAKENING at the Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles (as well as a collaboration with Dustin Lance Black on 8), with musical direction by Patrick Burns (FROM FOSTER CARE TO FABULOUS, SPAMALOT National Tour) offers musical direction.

The show plays two performances, August 19 and 20th, 2012 at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets, starting at $20.00 are available through Plays 411 by calling (323) 960-5770 or online at http://www.plays411.com/ljwwedding.
