The Echo Theater Company is proud to announce its fourth annual ECHO ONE ACT FESTIVAL featuring original commissioned one-acts by some of the nation's top playwrights. THE ECHO ONE ACTS 2009 will open on Friday, January 16 at 8:00pm and run Fri-Sun for five weeks closing Sunday, February 15 at Stage 52, 5299 W. Washington Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90016.

The evening will be a series of six plays, commissioned by The Echo Theater Company: Three Women by Julia Cho, The Dirty Laundry of Marjorie by Padraic Duffy, Local Color by Hilly Hicks Jr, The Other Woman by David Ives, I Know Who You Are by Brian Tanen, and The Collection by Sharon Yablon.

The plays will be directed by David Burke, Chris Fields, Tara Karsian, John Lawler, Josh Moyse, and Stefan Novinski.

The cast of THE ECHO ONE ACTS 2009 will feature David Burke, Shawna Casey, Crystal Day, Loreni Delgado, Alana Dietze, Andrea Grano, Lucy Griffin, Carter Jenkins, Kristina Lear, Alison Martin, Keith McDonald, Kit Pongetti, Jf Pryor, Jeremy Shranko, Ruth Silveira, and Jeanne Syquia.

The set design is by Torry Bend. The lighting design is by R. Christopher Stokes. The sound design is by Fionnegan Murphy. The costume design is by Audrey Eisner. The show will be produced for the Echo by Lauren Bass & Chris Fields.

THE ECHO ONE ACTS will open Friday, January 16, 2009 and run for five weeks through Sunday, February 15. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 7pm at Stage 52, 5299 W. The Echo Theater Company is a group of actors, writers, directors, and producers dedicated to developing and presenting the work of playwrights on all levels. The Company has produced award winning premiere productions of Bedfellows by Herman Daniel Farrell lll, The Median Strip by Richard Strand, Home Grown by Rick Cleveland, A Devil Inside by David Lindsay-Abaire, Finder's Fee by Wesley Moore, A Thimble of Smoke by Elroyce D. Jones, Bernardo Solano's Wild Life, Bryan Davidson's War Music (which won the 2003 Ovation Awards for Best World Premiere Play and Best Ensemble and also chosen by the Geffen Theatre to open its 2004 season), Paul Zimmerman's Pigs and Bugs, Sarah Ruhl's Melancholy Play, Adam Bock's Thursday, Kate Robin's Anon and Jessica Goldberg's Body Politic (nominated for 2008 Ovation Award - Best Ensemble & Best Play).

Echo presents an ongoing monthly reading series as a means to nurture playwrights and expose the public to its work. The Echo has commissioned and produced twenty-one one acts by playwrights including Adam Rapp, David Lindsay-Abaire, Tanya Barfield, Julia Cho, Cusi Cram, Padraic Duffy, Jessica Goldberg, Paul Grellong, Hilly Hicks Jr., Quincy Long, J.T. Rogers, and Gary Sunshine. The Echo founded and produced the Ojai Playwrights Conference where new works by, among others, Christopher Durang, David Ives, Jessica Goldberg, and Adam Rapp have been workshopped. The Echo, in association with Dreamyard LA, has started ActOut, a youth outreach program in which members of The Echo visit Camp Kilpatrick, a probation camp for youthful offenders aged thirteen to eighteen, to teach classes in acting and playwrighting.
