Cooney Comedy 'Tom, Dick & Harry' at Long Beach Opens 10/19

By:

British farce-master Ray Cooney's latest zany comedy, Tom, Dick and Harry, co-written with his son, Hollywood screenwriter Michael Cooney, will make its West Coast premiere at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Opening Night is October 19, continuing through November 18; low-priced previews take place October 16, 17 & 18.

"Tom Dick and Harry is the story of Tom (Brian Stanton) and Linda (Christy Hall) who are adopting a baby.  It's the happiest day of their lives – or it would have been if Tom's brothers, Dick (Nicolas Levene) and Harry (Jaime Tintor) hadn't decided to help.  The result of Dick and Harry's 'assistance' produces two illegal immigrants, a dead body, a van load of contraband cigarettes and a Russian mobster.  When the social worker from the adoption agency and the police constable arrive, Tom's ingenuity is stretched to the limit, and the lies (and laughs) pile up.  But things couldn't get worse.  Or could they?" explain press notes.

Also in the cast are ICT veterans Matt Foyer and David Fruechting, Jaime Andrews, Lou Briggs and Kerry Michaels. The creative team includes Matthew D. Egan (sets); J. Kent Inasy (lighting); Carin Jacobs (costumes); Paul Fabre (sound).

Cooney has been a fixture in London's West End for four decades where his biggest success, Run For Your Wife, played for nine years and remains its longest-running comedy.  All together, he has written 17 West End comedy hits, three of which, Out of Order, Funny Money and Caught in the Net, have previously been produced by ICT - the last directed by and featuring the playwright himself.

International City Theatre, a professional, regional theater located in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, is the recipient of multiple awards including the Margaret Harford Award from the Los Angeles Drama Critics' Circle for "Sustained Excellence in Theater."

Tom, Dick and Harry runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 2PM, October 19 through November 18. International City Theatre is located at Long Beach Performing Arts Center, 300 East Ocean Blvd., Long Beach CA 90802

Tickets: Opening Night $50 - $60 (includes reception following the performance); Friday, Saturday, Sunday $37 - $42; Thursday $32 - $37; Previews $29. Call 562-436-4610 or visit www.ictlongbeach.org
