Circus Theatricals opens it 2010 Season with The West Coast Premiere of More Lies About Jerzy by Davey Holmes (WGA Award-winner for In Treatment) and directed by David Trainer (That ‘70s Show) and produced by Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin.

Set in the early 1970s, "More Lies About Jerzy" focuses on world-famous media darling and controversial author Jerzy Lesnewski who causes a scandal that rocks New York and Hollywood after a journalist accuses him of fabricating key points in his autobiography and plagiarizing parts of his best-selling novels. The play was inspired by the life and times of author Jerzy Kosinski.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Davey Holmes (playwright) quit trying to be a rock star in his mid-twenties, stopped dying his hair orange and began writing plays. "More Lies About Jerzy" premiered in New York at the Vineyard Theatre after a workshop at New York Stage & Film, with a subsequent production in London at the New End Theatre. Other plays, including "Montezuma," "The Chafing Wheel" and "What Big Eyes," were performed and developed at South Coast Repertory Theatre, the Atlantic Theater Company and The New Group. His writing for television includes "Worthy", his new pilot currently at FOX, "In Treatment", "Pushing Daisies", "Damages," "Happy Town" and "Law & Order". He received a WGA Award in 2008 for his work on "In Treatment" and was nominated in 2007 for "Damages."

David Trainer (director) directed Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy and Keith Carradine in "Foxfire" on Broadway and at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. He directed the original Playwrights Horizons production of "The Dining Room" by A. R. Gurney in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He has directed at The Long Wharf in New Haven, the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, and the Williamstown Theater Festival, among many others. On television he directed "Designing Women", "Grace Under Fire", "Cybill", and all eight seasons of "That ‘70s Show."

Chet Grissom (Brett). For Circus Theatricals: "Hamlet." Film work includes supporting roles in "The Crazies" (Timothy Olyphant), and the upcoming "Fair Game" (Sean Penn, Naomi Watts). He has appeared in over 40 TV shows, most recently "Castle," "Criminal Minds" and "Mad Men." since moving to Los Angeles from Chicago in the late 1990's. His stage work in Los Angeles includes "The Bird and Mr. Banks" and "Swimming" (Road Theatre), "Terra Nova" (South Coast Rep.), "Taming of the Shrew" (Orpheum), "After the Fall," "Central Avenue," "Night of the Iguana," and "Summer and Smoke" (Fountain).

Jordan Lund (Rysiek) A Circus Theatricals Associate Artist, Jordan has performed in thirteen Circus Theatricals productions, including: "The Adding Machine," "Man.Gov"," Taming of the Shrew," "Twelfth Night." Broadway: "Romeo & Juliet," "As You Like It," "Macbeth" (dir. Estelle Parsons, Belasco NYSF). Off-Broadway: "The Golem," "Twelfth Night," "King John" (Delacorte NYSF). Other NY: The Kitchen, LaMama, INTAR. Regional: "Romeo and Juliet" (dir. Sir Peter Hall, Ahmanson). "Scapin" (dir. Bartlett Sher, Portland Stage), "Scaramouche" (dir. BH Barry, TheatreVirginia), "On The Waterfront" (Cleveland Playhouse) Over 75 Film/TV: "The American President," "Doc Hollywood," " Speed," "Lonesome Dove," "The Stand," "NYPD Blue," "Law And Order," "Star Trek." Jordan trained at Carnegie-Mellon University.

Kristin Malko (Georgia) On television, newcomer Kristin Malko is best known as Debra Jean Belle on "Prison Break." Like her character Georgia, Kristin is also a Sarah Lawrence lit grad. In addition to acting, Kristin also shares a fervent passion for painting and is currently knee-deep in Pt. II of a large canvas series entitled "Living the Dream." When acting and painting aren't demanding all of her attention, Kristin also writes and sings heartfelt ditties on guitar.

CameRon Meyer (Isabel). Jack Stehlin (Jerzy Lesnewski). An award-winning actor/director, Jack Stehlin (Circus Theatricals Artistic Director) is best known on television as DEA captain Roy Till on the popular Showtime series "Weeds." His extensive New York and Regional stage credits include "Salome" with Al Pacino, and nine productions at New York's Public Theatre including "Richard II" with Steven Berkoff, "Henry V" with Kevin Kline, "Casanova" with Ethan Hawke, "Henry IV, I" with Mandy Patinkin, "Julius Caesar" (w/ Al Pacino and Martin Sheen). On the stages of Los Angeles, Jack's roles include Circus Theatricals productions of "The Taming of the Shrew," "The Misanthrope," "Macbeth," "Hamlet," "Richard III," "Tartuffe," "True West," "The Cheats of Scapni," and Shem Bitterman's "Harm's Way" (LA and Off-Broadway)which won the prestigious Pen USA Award for Drama. Jack has had recurring and guest starring roles on countless hit TV fan favorites, such as "Without a Trace," "Monk," "NCIS," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "JAG," "The Practice," "ER," and "NYPD Blue." June 2010 he can be seen in the season premiere of "Dark Blue" with Dylan McDermott. Jack has two films coming out in 2010: "Wilde Salome" directed by and starring Al Pacino, and "The Chicago 8" with Danny Masterson, Gary Cole and Phillip Baker Hall. Jack is a graduate of The Juilliard School.

Adam Stein (Arthur Bausley) has performed both on and off-Broadway, and at regional
theaters across the country, including The Old Globe, Steppenwolf, Seattle Rep, Williamstown, the Guthrie and the McCarter. In Los Angeles, he was nominated for an Ovation Award for his performance in Adam Rapp's "Nocturn" (Black Dahlia). Also a writer, his play, "Angry," premiered at the Black Dahlia Theater. He has contributed to GQ, Glamour and the New York Times Magazine, and was a writer on the FX series "Damages" for three seasons.
Neil Vipond (Harry) With Circus Theatricals: "Seduced," "Complexity," "Richard III," "Hamlet." Neil began his career in Canada, performing in over 40 plays in two seasons of stock before joining the first company at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He was with the Festival Theatre for four seasons playing young leading roles under the direction of Tyrone Guthrie and performing with such actors as Alec Guiness, Irene Worth and James Mason. Coming to New York he appeared with Uta Hagen in "The Good Woman of Setzuan. Neil has worked on and off Broadway and with many regional theatres, including James Joyce in "Mr. Joyce is leaving Paris" and Hamm in "Endgame," both productions directed by Jim Sheridan, Danforth in the Roundabout Theatre production of "The Crucible," and David Warren's production of "Rope," Pam Berlin's production of "End Papers." His many television and film credits include Guest Star appearances on "Will and Grace," "Cold Case" and Meduum." Neil is a Circus Theatricals Associate Artist.

Designers include Allison Leach (costumes), Laura Fine Hawkes (set), Derrick McDaniel (lights), Roger Bellon (original music), Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin (sound). Stage Manager is Amanda Korkunis.

Roger Bellon (Original Music). Roger recently conducted the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios for his score to "Iron Cross," Roy Scheider's last movie. Roger Bellon, born in Neuilly sur Seine, France, attended The Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition. He has scored over three hundred television episodes and numerous award winning television movies, including Mario Puzo's Emmy nominated, "The Last Don". He received an Emmy Nomination for his score to the television movie "Frankenstein". Currently, Roger is completing his second opera, "ILIOS," based on Homer's The Iliad.

Laura Fine Hawkes (set designer) With a background in live theatrical entertainment, Laura Fine Hawkes' work broadly encompasses scenic design for theatre and opera, museum exhibit design, and live events for television and theme parks. Theatrical engagements include San Francisco Opera, The Geffen Playhouse, CSULB Opera Institute, The Matrix, Ensemble Studio Theatre, UCLA Opera, UCLA Theatre, NoHo Ensemble Theatre, among others. Upcoming engagements include the Mark Taper Forum's Leiutenant of Inishmore, opening July 2010. Laura holds an MFA in Scenic Design from UCLA.

Allison Leach (costume designer) enjoys designing clothes across many mediums: theatre, dance, film, TV, stills, new media, as well as custom-made for individuals. In L.A. theatre, she designed Pyrenees and A VERY OLD Man With Enormous Wings (Kirk Douglas Theatre), Tim Robbins' 1984 (The Actors Gang world tour) and won the Ovation Award for L.A. Women's Shakespeare Co.'s gender-bending Merchant of Venice. Allison acted as assistant costume designer on AMC's trendsetting show Mad Men for three seasons and is the resident designer for The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. www.allisonleachdesign.com

Derrick McDaniel (lighting designer) - A few of Derrick's lighting credits include, "The Godfather Workout" for the HBO comedy festival in Aspen, "Blood Brothers" at the Whitefire Theater, "Among The Thugs" at the Odyssey Theater, "Three Sisters" at the Odyssey for Circus Theatricals - and many others. Derrick was recently nominated for a 2008 Ovation Award for lighting, for "The Shelter" at the Odyssey Theater and for "Lady" at the Road Theater. He was also nominated for a 2008 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award "On An Average Day" at the Elephant Lab.

Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin (producer / Circus Theatricals Manager Director/ sound design) . Jeannine has produced over 45 plays for Circus Theatricals, including Taming of the Shrew, Man.gov (LA/Off-Broadway) Harm's Way (LA/Off-Broadway/2008 Pen USA award), Twelfth Night, Sister Cities (world premiere), Misanthrope, Macbeth, Tartuffe , Cherry Orchard, Richard III, Hamlet, Scapin, The Job (LA/Off-Broadway). As a sound designer, credits include the Circus Theatricals productions of Three Sisters, Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night and The Circle (LA Weekly "Best Sound Design" nomination.) Also an actor, her stage credits include: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Job, Peer Gynt, Tartuffe (LA Weekly "Best Comedy Ensemble"), Misanthrope, Hippolytus, The Stronger, The Art of Success, Women and Wallace. Film/TV: "Watch It," " Rancho Cucamonga." "Romper Room." Jeannine earned B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

ABOUT CIRCUS THEATRICALS
Circus Theatricals, celebrating its 27th Anniversary season and its 15th season in Los Angeles, is best known for producing classic plays or new plays with a classic twist. Circus Theatricals is a nonprofit theatre company with a studio ensemble of actors, directors and playwrights who develop and perform in Circus Theatricals main stage productions, Second Stage productions, and workshops, as well as participate in weekly studios. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Jack Stehlin, the ensemble includes an active membership of working professionals from stage, film and television.
