As we make our way on into December, I trust you will want to include attending a show or two at any one of our various theatre and live performance venues here on the California Central Coast as part of your Holiday Season entertainment schedule!

The North County Dance and Performing Arts Foundation (www.northcountyperformingarts.org) will present The Nutcracker at the Templeton Performing Arts Center through December 11.

This production has come to be cherished by the local community because it is a traditional rendition of the holiday classic appropriate for audiences of all ages.  Professional guest artists, over sixty members of the community, and professional choreographers come together to make this production truly grand.  Cast members train at Class Act Dance Studio in Paso Robles, and dancers in the Paso Robles Chamber Ballet are featured in the leading roles.

Under the direction of Cheryle Armstrong and her staff of choreographers, this production features brilliant costumes and festive sets to compliment Tchaikovsky’s beloved musical score.

The Pewter Plough Playhouse (www.pewterploughplayhouse.org) in Cambria is proud to present Fascinating Gershwin! -a musical memoir showcasing the extraordinary songs of America's favorite composing team, George and Ira Gershwin, running through December 31

The Theatre at the Old Grammar Schoolin Cambria (TOGS) (http://artistsofcambria.com/cambriapac/id4.html) and Allied Arts Theatre's next production will be the romantic comedy Almost, Maine (performances January 27 - February 19).

SLO Little Theatre's (www.slolittletheatre.org) current main stage production is A Christmas Story, running through December 23.  Auditions for Ubu's Other Shoe's readers' theatre production of Opus will be held December 12 & 13 (performances February 3 & 4).  ACT's (Academy of Creative Theatre) The Little Prince will be presented January 13-29.

Kelrik Productions (www.kelrikproductions.com) is pleased to announce the first 2 productions of their 2012 BEYOND Season - a remount of the children's favorite Pinkalicious (matinee performances January 21 - February 5) and Avenue Q (evening performances January 13 - February 4).  The remainder of the 2012 Season will soon be announced - stay tuned!

The God Is Still Speaking Players' (https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/92718528887) recently completed their “Celebration In Song” musical variety show to benefit GALA and PFLAG.  After the Holiday Season, they will be holding auditions for either a readers’ theatre production or another musical revue in early March - stay tuned!

Upcoming performances at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center (www.pacslo.org) include SLO Civic Ballet’s The Nutcracker on December 10 & 11, Charles Phoenix: Retro Holiday Slide Show on December 17 (Pavilion), Cuesta Master Chorale’s Holiday Concert on December 17 (Cohan Center), and the Forbes Pipe Organ Holiday Concert Sing-Along on December 18.      

Murder In Mind Productions (www.murderinmind.com) will present A Dickens of a Mystery, through January 29, at The Spyglass Inn in Shell Beach (reservations required).

The Spot (https://www.facebook.com/#!/hit.the.spot) in Arroyo Grande will present the Studio of Performing Arts’ production of The Grinch December 9-11, Pismo Beach Youth Theater's Once On This Island Decmber 16-18, Comedy On The Spot: Improv Comedy on December 22 & 23, and All In One Music Productions' A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Forclosure on December 29 & 30, along with Spinning the Globe and a simulcast of the ball dropping in Times Square on December 31.

Sorcerer Productions (https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Sorcerer-Productions/105954829426281) presents Plaid Tidings through December 18 in the Clark Center Studio Theatre in Arroyo Grande [NOTE: Caught a Sunday matinee of this show and it is absolutely delightful!].

Other upcoming performances at the ClarkCenter(www.clarkcenter.org) include the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony’s Holiday Concert on December 11, and Allan Hancock College Youth Dance and the South County Education Foundation’s The Nutcracker December 16 & 17, and the annual Community Christmas & Holiday Sing-A-Long on December 18.

The Great American Melodrama (www.americanmelodrama.com) is pleased to present The Holiday Extravaganza running through December 31.  

The Santa Maria Civic Theatre's (www.smct.org) next production, Rabbit Hole, will run February 2-25.   

The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (www.pcpa.org), the Central Coast's Resident Professional Theatre Company, located on the Allan Hancock College Campus in Santa Maria, is proud to present A Christmas Carol - the musical, which will run through December 23 [NOTE: saw the official opening night performance on November 12 - and it was MAGICAL!].

The Lompoc Civic Theatre (www.lompoccivictheatre.com) has just finished presenting 2 holiday one act plays: The Cowhand's Christmas Carol and Not on This Night.  Stay tuned for what's next! 

So, whatever plans you may have in the next couple of weeks, I hope you will want to include supporting the performing arts here on the Central Coast of California by attending a production at one of our area theatres or live entertainment establishments!
