CTG Names 2012-2013 Regional Finalists for August Wilson Monologue Competition
Center Theatre Group, host of the August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) in Southern California, is pleased to announce that 10 finalists have been selected to participate in the AWMC regional finals to be held at the CTG/Mark Taper Forum on March 4, 2013.
"I am so proud of our regional finalists and of all of the students who have participated in the program this year," says Center Theatre Group's Director of Education and Community Partnerships Leslie K. Johnson. "It takes great courage for students to explore and share their artistry with their community, and CTG is thrilled to provide an avenue where we can not only share the inspirational works of August Wilson with a new generation, but also help students discover their own voices."
The Southern California regional finalists are Maggie Cannan (Studio City), Julian de la Celle (Los Angeles), Angelina Finau (North Hills), Nahtori Johnson (Inglewood), Jocelyn Lopez (Los Angeles), Pablo Lopez (Los Angeles), Kiana Lyons (Los Angeles), Tulsi McDaniels (Los Angeles), Eliana Pipes (Atladena) and Rhyver White (Hawthorne). They represent Eagle Rock Jr./Sr. High School, James Monroe High School, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, Lou Dantzler Preparatory High School and Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts.
