BONOBOS to Receive Staged Reading with Ammunition Theatre Company in LA

Ammunition Theatre Company will present a staged reading of Bonobos by company member, Lina Patel on June 10th at Atwater Village Theater in Los Angeles. Directed by AMMO company member, Tina Huang, Bonobos is a dark ensemble comedy about female friendship and toxic masculinity set on one suburban night that spirals into surreal crisis. This staged reading is a fundraiser for Ammunition Theatre Company with a suggested donation of $5 - $10 for tickets.

The reading stars company members Tina Huang, Roxana Ortega, Oscar Fabela, Brandon Scott, and Katherine Means, with special guest artists Adria Kozica, John Lavelle, and Sol Marina Crespo.

Bonobos was workshopped in Michigan in February at Flint Repertory and in April in Los Angeles, directed by Bernardo Cubria, along with dramaturgical support from Sol Marina Crespo and Tina Huang.

Lina Patel is a Los Angeles-based playwright, screenwriter, director, and performer whose work explores disability, non-traditional relationships, and power in an unstable world. Her plays have been produced and developed widely, from Cherry Lane to Yale Rep to RADA, and her TV credits span Warner Brothers, DC, Array, and Paramount. Currently directing at Rogue Machine Theatre and developing a graphic novel with Eisner-winning illustrator E.J. Su.

Founded in 2014, Ammunition Theatre Company (AMMO) was born from a desire to accelerate representation in the arts, explore identity in an evolving America, and shift mainstream storytelling toward more inclusive narratives. AMMO is led by co-artistic directors Tiana Randall-Quant and Diana Wyenn.
