General Director Plácido Domingo announced today that soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Yusif Eyvazov will return to Los Angeles in concert with the LA Opera Orchestra, conducted by Jader Bignamini. The concert will take place at 7:30pm on May 4, 2017, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Tickets for the concert are currently on sale exclusively to LA Opera subscribers.

Regarded by many as the reigning prima donna of her generation, Russian soprano Anna Netrebko first appeared with LA Opera in 2000, as the First Flower Maiden in a concert performance of Act Two of Parsifal alongside tenor Plácido Domingo, conductor Valery Gergiev and the Kirov Orchestra. She made her mainstage company debut in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor in 2003, returning as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette in 2005 and in the title role of Manon in 2006. She has appeared with nearly all the world's great opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, London's Royal Opera House, the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Milan's Teatro alla Scala, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Berlin State Opera and Munich's Bavarian State Opera. She was the first classical musician to be chosen as one of the "Time 100," Time magazine's list of the world's most influential people.

Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov made his LA Opera debut in 2015 as Canio in Pagliacci. The fast-rising artist subsequently made notable debuts at both the Metropolitan Opera and the Vienna State Opera as Calaf in Turandot, and he performed Manrico in Il Trovatore for his debuts at the Staatsoper Berlin (with Ms. Netrebko as Leonora) and at the Paris Opera. In the summer of 2016, he made important debuts at the Mariinsky Theater, where he performed the title role ofOtello with Valery Gergiev, and at the Salzburg Festival, as Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut (with Ms. Netrebko in the title role).

Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov met in March of 2014 when they appeared together in a production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut at the Rome Opera House. They were married in December of 2015 in Vienna. Ms. Netrebko's newest solo album, Verismo, features Mr. Eyvazov in excerpts fromTurandot and Manon Lescaut. Their Los Angeles concert, which is their only dual concert in the United States this season, will include repertoire from that album.

Jader Bignamini is the resident conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica la Verdi, after being appointed assistant conductor in 2010 by Riccardo Chailly. His engagements for the 2016/17 season include Andrea Chénier at the Tokyo National Opera, La Traviata at Rome's Teatro dell'Opera directed by Sofia Coppola, Rossini's Ciro in Babilonia at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, La Traviata at the Arena di Verona, Madama Butterfly in Palermo, Manon Lescaut at the Bolshoi with Anna Netrebko, and Il Trovatore in Rome. He made his North American debut in 2015 with Rigoletto at Santa Fe Opera.
