A Noise Within Announces A CHRISTMAS CAROL Casting

By:

A Noise Within (ANW), Los Angeles' critically acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, announces the casting of Tiny Tim for its perennial holiday favorite, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol; recent awards; its surpassing of 2014-2015 season subscription sales targets; and a new development director, along with recent major individual and foundational grants.

Ikenna Ogbogu, age 10, of Bradbury, CA has been cast as Tiny Tim in ANW's production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, now in its third year this December 5-23. Tickets and info are available by phoning 626-356-3100 or visiting www.anoisewithin.org.

A Noise Within received a 2014 BEST (Building Excellence in Small Theatre) Award from the Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation, which recognizes exceptional theatre organizations that contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Los Angeles. The award was presented at the Ovation Awards on November 2.

"We are thrilled and honored to receive the 2014 BEST Award from the Biller Family Foundation, "said co-producing artistic director Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, "and are very grateful to have our work acknowledged in this manner."

Resident Artist Deborah Strang won the 2014 Ovation Award for Best Actress, Large Theatre on November 2 for her portrayal of Lola in Come Back, Little Sheba at A Noise Within last season. A Noise Within was also nominated for Best Production for Pericles and Come Back, Little Sheba; and Angela Calin was nominated for her vibrant costumes for Pericles.

A Noise Within, founded in 1991, is among the country's pre-eminent presenters of classical theatre and is the leading presenter of these plays in Southern California. The company's mission is to produce world-class performances of the great works of drama in rotating repertory with a resident company; to educate and inspire the public through programs that foster an understanding and appreciation of history's great plays and playwrights; and to train the next generation of classical theatre artists.

Originally based in a former Masonic Temple in Glendale, the company moved to its present home-a building of architectural distinction designed by Edward Durrell Stone of Kennedy Center fame-in 2011. Helmed by Producing Artistic Directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, who hold MFAs from San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre, A Noise Within delivers a seven-show repertory season and a wide range of educational programs to diverse audiences from Los Angeles County and well beyond. Voted "Best Theatre" by readers of Time Out Los Angeles and recommended by readers of Pasadena Weekly, A Noise Within is indeed "California's Home for the Classics."

A Noise Within is located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107.
