Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and SAG Award nominee Norm Lewis will open the new season of Hamptons Summer Songbook By the Sea on Sunday, June 28, at 7:30 PM. Lewis will present a revue of songs hand-picked from his impressive resumé of the who’s-who among leading man roles and will lend his unique and insightful vocal versatility to selections ranging from jazz and blues, to soul, pop, and classic American favorites.

The evening will also feature the presentation of the Frances Ann Dougherty Award for Broadcast Philanthropy to Jean Shafiroff. The award honors leadership, generosity, and a lasting commitment to strengthening community through the power of media.

The annual concert series, Hamptons Summer Songbook By the Sea, running through August 29, brings Broadway and cabaret artists to an intimate setting in the Hamptons, combining world-class performances with cocktails, conversation, and community. Following opening night on June 28, the series continues with Ann Hampton Callaway on Saturday, July 11, Klea Blackhurst and Billy Stritch on Saturday, July 18, Eric Yves Garcia and Maria Abous on Saturday, July 25, Barbara Fasano and Eric Comstock on Saturday, August 1, KT Sullivan, Mark Nadler, Christine Pedi, and Stephanie Pope on Saturday, August 22, Pamela Morgan on Sunday, August 23, and closes with Donna McKechnie on Saturday, August 29. All shows start at 7:30 PM (doors open at 7:00 PM).

Produced by Donna Rubin and LTV's Creative Director Josh Gladstone, Hamptons Summer Songbook By the Sea offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience Broadway-caliber talent up close in the unique environment of LTV Studios. Norm Lewis
Vocalist
Norm Lewis is a Florida native and “just about everything a leading man with a mighty voice should be” (The New York Times). In addition to making history as the first African American Phantom in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, Lewis was the first African American actor to play the role of Javert in a professional English-speaking production of Les Misérables, first in the 2006 Broadway revival, then in London’s West End. For his performance as Porgy in the Broadway production of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, he received Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. Other Broadway credits include Sondheim on Sondheim, The Little Mermaid, Chicago, Amour, The Wild Party, Side Show, Miss Saigon, and The Who’s Tommy. Off-Broadway, Lewis received the AUDELCO Award for his performance as Sweeney Todd in the production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre. Film credits include The Good Mother and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, for which he received a SAG Award nomination. On television, Lewis is known for his role as Senator Edison Davis in the ABC series, Scandal, as well as appearances on Pose, Blue Bloods, and The Blacklist. He received a New York Emmy Award nomination for his special Norm Lewis: Christmastime Is Here!, produced at 54 Below, where he is a regular performer. He has received Grammy nominations for cast recordings of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, and has recorded two solo albums: The Norm Lewis Christmas Album and This is The Life, which can be found on Amazon.com as well as cdbaby.com. As an advocate and activist, Lewis is a founding member of Black Theatre United, an organization which stands together to help protect Black people, Black talent and Black lives of all shapes and orientations in theatre and communities across the country.
Isaac Harlan
Musical Director / Pianist
Isaac Harlan is a Pittsburgh native who studied piano at Penn State University. Since 2010, he has worked in NYC as a pianist, music director, and orchestrator. Isaac has played concerts for Norm Lewis, Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Darius de Haas, among others, and has also had the pleasure of working on developing musicals by writers such as Michael McElroy, Tituss Burgess, Alex Gemignani, and Black Thought. He accompanies the younger generation of singers through his work with NYU, YoungArts, and the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Isaac also works with the Broadway Inspirational Voices, a Grammy-nominated gospel choir, as a pianist and orchestrator.
