'Thornhills of Park Avenue' Stars to Appear at Long Island Film Festival

By:

Juliette Bennett, Bill Connington, and Anthony Haden-Guest, stars of the the short film THE THORNHILLS OF PARK AVENUE, will appear with the director Thomas Caruso, at the 28th Annual Long Island Film Festival (LIFF) on Monday, August 8th at the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts, on Long Island. Doors open at 6 pm.

The first set of shorts begins at 6:15 pm. See the festival website for more details: www.liff.org. THE THORNHILLS OF PARK AVENUE was penned by the multi-award-winning actor/writer Bill Connington, and directed by the noted director Thomas Caruso, who also directed Connington in the play and short film versions of ZOMBIE, by New York Times bestselling author Joyce Carol Oates. (www.zombiethefilm.com, produced by Michael Cooper).

Bennett and Connington play a young society couple, James and Elisabeth Thornhill, who are visited by a sardonic British guest: Anthony Haden-Guest, who in "> stunt casting,"> plays himself: an urbane man-about-town. Mr. Haden-Guest is the half-brother of the film director Christopher Guest (BEST IN SHOW, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN). The composer for the film was the award-winning Deirdre Broderick (www.deirdrebroderick.com). The synopsis of the film reads, "A young Park Avenue couple invites a British writer and cartoonist for cocktails. Quips and satire ensue. The story is: what is more important: money or happiness? The answer? Cocktails, apparently."

The multi-talented THORNHILLS team is busy with a myriad of projects. Juliette Bennett (www.juliettebennett.com) is coming off multiple award wins for her work in the film THE COUPLE. The comic film will screen at NYC's Anthology Film Archives on September 7th as part of the NewFilmakers Festival. (www.newfilmakers.com) Next up for Bennett is a new film directed by Cornelia Ravenal ( www.wildernessfilms.us).

Thomas Caruso is currently directing the play SHIPWRECKED for Penguin Rep, and SOUTHERN COMFORT (www.southerncomfortthemusical.com), for CAP 21 in New York City. www.thomascaruso.com) Anthony Haden-Guest is appearing live around Manhattan to recite his humorous and satiric poetry. (www.anthonyhadenguest.com). ?Bill Connington is writing the feature-length screenplay of ZOMBIE, based on the award-winning novella by famed American author Joyce Carol Oates. ( www.usfca.edu/jco). The feature is scheduled to be shot in the Boston area in the spring of 2012. ( www.zombiethefilm.com). LLIF is the longest running film festival on Long Island. It champions the creative, visionary, and storytelling talents of both professional and student filmmakers from America and abroad. The executive director of The Long Island Film Festival is Thomas Santorelli, who is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and film and audio historian. ?( www.liff.org).
