The Gateway Announces 2018 Season

The Gateway is thrilled to announce its 2018 Season! The Gateway's new season features dazzling Broadway hits including: A Chorus Line, Nunsense, Memphis, Cabaret, Flashdance and Beauty & The Beast.

Tickets start at $59 and go on sale to the public on Tuesday, March 20 at 10am. Student and youth prices are available for select shows. Full Season Subscription Memberships are available now through March 18th. Season Subscription memberships include tickets to all five Main Stage shows and exclusive membership perks. This year's Children's Theatre Series includes two Gateway School for the Performing Arts productions of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr, and Disney's Mary Poppins Jr, as well as the interactive bubble show - Bubble Trouble, and fresh off its off-Broadway run, the breathtaking show for children starring magician and illusionist Max Darwin - The Amazing Max.

An audition of a lifetime - A Chorus Line celebrates both the glamour and grind of 17 talented dancers, and is the musical for everyone who's ever had a dream of making it in showbiz. With its celebration and true-to-life depiction of performers and their struggle to achieve greatness on the Broadway stage, A Chorus Line has earned unanimous praise as one of the true masterpieces of live theater and is one of the biggest smash hit musicals to ever play on the Great White Way.


Nunsense

Originally hailed by the New York Times as "Wacky and outrageous with a hysterical anything goes sense of fun!" Nunsense is a barrel of laughs for any and all ages with zany songs and never ending smiles. The show is a fundraiser put on by the Little Sisters of Hoboken to raise money to bury sisters accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (Child of God). Updated with new jokes, additional lyrics, two new arrangements, this timeless riot is not to be missed.


Memphis

Inspired by the underground dance clubs of 1950's Memphis, Tennessee, comes the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs, and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. Inspired by actual events, Memphis is about a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break. Come along on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves - filled with laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock 'n' roll. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical and two 2015 Olivier Awards, Memphis features a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member, David Bryan.


Cabaret

Willkommen! and welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd - and to leave their troubles outside. A sexy nightclub set in a troubled war makes Germany the backdrop for one of the most talked about musical of all time. The show features the most memorable songs in theatre history, including "Cabaret," "Two Ladies" and "Maybe This Time." Beauty and the Beast

Be Our Guest! This "tale as old as time" follows Belle, a book-smart and adventurous young woman and Beast, a formerly dashing young prince cursed by an enchantress. If the Beast cannot learn to love and be loved in return, he and his household including Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and Chip will be trapped forever under the spell. The Broadway smash hit showcases a merry, award-winning score with such favorites as "Beauty and the Beast," "Gaston," and "Be Our Guest." The Interactive Bubble Show

A Unique and Interactive Bubble Extravaganza

A bubble volcano. Bubble roller coaster. A kid in a bubble? Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this one-man bubble extravaganza. It's the craziest, most creative bubble show around. Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles and more. Mixing comedy, music and interactive bubble-magic, he engages and delights audiences of all ages. The Little Mermaid

The Amazing Max

The smash hit show returns! Celebrated Off-Broadway illusionist Max Darwin (Nickelodeon, National Geographic Channel) displays a unique brand of visual magic, comedy, and audience participation that will thrill audiences of all ages. During the past 10 years, the Amazing Max has performed over 3,000 shows with celebrities such as Uma Thurman, William Baldwin, Diana Ross, Steven A Cohen, Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Sisto and Tommy Hilfiger.

Your favorite practically perfect nanny takes center stage in this junior production based on the award-winning Broadway musical and classic Walt Disney film. An enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers, even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it." A Gateway School for the Performing Arts production.

The Gateway is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to provide theatre of the highest caliber to the Long Island region and beyond. It is the region's oldest professional theatre.
