Photo Flash: MOEY'S FAIRYTALE ADVENTURE Celebrates World Premiere at Dix Hills Performing Arts Center

The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center held a sold out world premiere of Moey's Fairytale Adventure, a 60-minute, fun-filled, immersive children's musical. The new musical is the brainchild of children's performer Melissa Levis, also known as Moey, and authors Leah Lane and Stewart F. Lane, a Tony Award winner. The musical was produced by James Beneduce, Bonnie Comley and Alyssa Renzi, and directed by Broadway veteran Marie Danvers (Phantom of the Opera, The New Moon, A Moment in Time.) Moey's Fairytale Adventure introduces children to Tina, a clever young girl, who learns that individuals can change the outcome of every story. Tina and her friends put a twist on classic fairytales by rewriting the ending so even the bad guys can show their good side. The moral is that teamwork and imagination bring out the best in everyone and change the path of what seemed like certain doom.

Melissa Levis is an award-winning children's songwriter who created the character of Moey in 2005. Sporting her signature pink, sparkly dress, Moey is one of the most well-recognized and beloved performers among boys and girls in the ten-and-under-set in New York City. The New York Post dubbed her "The Pied Piper in Pink" because her young fans faithfully follow her band, Moey's Music Party, from gig to gig.

The Moey's Fairytale Adventure creative team includes: Melissa Levis (music & lyrics), Stewart F. Lane (book) & Leah Lane (book). Moey's Fairytale Adventure was directed by Marie Danvers with choreography by Amy Dolan Fletcher. The cast included: Missy Vega, Stephanie Courtney, Javan Zapata, Michelle Rocco, Lina Lee, Alden Brown, Kristin Clark, Chrissy Menfi, DJ Smith-Garcia, Londel Collier, Kin-Zale Jackson, Katie White, Zaheer Boodhoo, and Jenna Ghidaleson.

Other production credits: Hosun Moon (Musical Director), Eric Mulz (Technical Director, Lighting & Set Designer), Sherry Kfare (Costume Designer), Philip Jordan (Scenic Designer), Tonianne Difilippo (Stage Manager), Danielle Palumbo (Stage Manager), Dayna John (Stage Managers), and Liam Moore (Sound Designer). Sanford Hinden is the Executive Director of the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center on the campus of Five Towns College.
