Neo-Political Cowgirls To Host Second Annual Women's Advocacy Event In East Hampton

By:

In keeping with their mission of raising visibility for women's issues, The Neo-Political Cowgirls (NPC) dance theatre company is proud to present their second annual Andromeda's Sisters event on Thursday, June 28th at East Hampton's Guild Hall. Inspired by the moment in NPC's production "ANDROMEDA" in which Poseidon's daughters swim to Andromeda's aid, Andromeda's Sisters celebrates women's capacity to support each other and change the world we occupy. This event will raise funds for The Neo-Political Cowgirls' theatrical and educational programming, while highlighting the work of women's causes and the words of female playwrights. A three-tiered evening of advocacy, associating, and arts, this event celebrates, connects, and articulates women's issues, voices, interests and livelihoods.

"The world today calls for exceptional energy in addressing society's struggles," says Kate Mueth, Neo-Political Cowgirls Artistic Director and Founder. "We at NPC thrive on this energy of assisting and making connections. We see how imperative the intersection of arts and advocacy is in serving our communities, families and the industrious talents of women. And that's why we have Andromeda's Sisters. When we "swim" to help our sisters, even if it may go against our own best interests in the moment, it's astounding what can happen for all of those involved."

The schedule of the evening is as follows:

5:00 PM: Women's Advocacy Panel

A moderated discussion with representatives of women's advocacy organizations such as OLA, The International Rescue Committee, Ellen's Run, Take Your Daughter To Work Day/Born Worthy, WAVE (Shinnecok Reservation's Women Against Violence Everywhere) and South Africa's Hantam Trust. Members of these organizations will discuss the work they do and its implications within our current political landscape. A deep investigation into positive and negative outcomes within our society and the domestic and international impact of women's advocacy groups.

6:30 PM: VIP Garden Party

Mingle and network with NPC supporters and special guests on the grounds of Guild Hall while enjoying drinks and cocktails and catered refreshments from Nick and Toni's and other East Hampton eateries sponsored by East End Acupuncture. Live music in the Guild Hall garden is by Job Potter, Sarah Greene, and Steven Tekulsky.

8:00 PM: One Act Performances

Short one act plays by Jacqueline Bircher, Lucy Boyle, Quinn Jackson, Monica Bauer and Robin Rice with performances by Aida Turturro, ("The Sopranos," "Sleepers") Florencia Lozano, ("One Life To Live," "Gossip Girl,") Ellen Dolan, ("Guiding Light," "As The World Turns") Teen actors Ava DeMary (Broadway- Evita, Mathilda, Billy Elliot and Law and Order for television) and Augie Murphy (Madame Secretary, The Sinner) and more.
