Long Island Actor Assumes New Lead Role in Off-Broadway’s Judy and Me

By:

The producers of the highly-anticipated Off-Broadway show, Judy and Me, which is set to open Oct. 19 at the St. Luke's Theatre in New York, have decided to replace Dusty St. Amand, previously set to star in the lead role of Anthony "Tony" Castalano, with Christopher Brick, a young and talented 19-year-old theatre actor from Long Island.

Brick comes to the Off-Broadway stage with an extensive regional theatre career that dates back to his first role starring as Theo in Pippin at only 5 years of age on Long Island, and he hasn't;t looked back or stopped working since. "In this regard, his background also echoes that of the character of Tony a resident and theater student in Elmont, Long Island." states Dr. John Schaefer, the show's Producer.

"We think Dusty is an amazing person and a gifted performer," Schaefer continues "However, the actor and role never quite came together the way we hoped they would."

Brick's character, a resident of the narrow-minded suburb of Elmont, is based upon the true story of Peter Mac, the playwright of Judy and Me and famous Garland impersonator. The show depicts the daily stress of domestic abuse in the household, homophobic bullying at school and finding the strength to come out of the closet as a gay person.

"I am excited about the introduction of Christopher Brick to New York City audiences in the role of Tony," adds Schaefer. "He has all of the naiveté and vulnerability and 'Yes, I will make it over the rainbow' qualities that are essential to the character."

Previews of Judy and Me begin Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. The St. Luke's Theatre is located at 308 West 46th Street, New York. Show times include Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 7 p.m., with matinees Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Tickets, ranging in price from $47.50 to $72.50, are available online at Telecharge. There will be a limited number of Student and Teacher tickets for $20 available at only at the box office on the day of the performance. Valid school ID is required.
