Douglas Baldeo to Launch Performing Arts Conservatory in Great Neck
The performer previously appeared in KINKY BOOTS and MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL as a child actor.
Nearly a decade after his viral performance of 'The Schuyler Sisters' from Hamilton, former Broadway child actor Douglas Baldeo has announced the January 2027 launch of his own multidisciplinary performing arts conservatory in Great Neck, New York.
From performing on Broadway as a child to establishing his own performing arts institution at just 22 years old, Baldeo is entering a new chapter in his professional journey.
Nearly a decade after appearing in MCC Theater's 2016 Miscast Gala performance of 'The Schuyler Sisters' from the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton, Baldeo is announcing the launch of the Douglas Baldeo Conservatory of Performing Arts (DBCOPA), a multidisciplinary performing arts conservatory scheduled to open in Great Neck, New York, in January 2027.
The 2016 Miscast performance, featuring Baldeo alongside Joshua Colley, Luca Padovan, and Ana Villafañe, has accumulated 13,925,774 YouTube views and approximately 357,000 likes, according to a view-count screenshot captured on October 26, 2026.
The performance remains a widely viewed moment in MCC Theater's Miscast history, connecting a generation of young Broadway performers with one of musical theatre's most recognizable songs.
Now, nearly ten years later, Baldeo is transitioning from the young performer audiences watched onstage to the founder of an institution dedicated to developing the next generation of performing artists.
From MCC Miscast to CEO: A Broadway Moment Remembered
On April 8, 2016, a video featuring three young Broadway performers taking on 'The Schuyler Sisters' from Hamilton was published on YouTube.
The performance originated at MCC Theater's annual Miscast Gala, an event known for giving performers opportunities to interpret musical theatre roles outside traditional casting expectations.
The performance featured Joshua Colley, Luca Padovan, and Douglas Baldeo, with Broadway actress Ana Villafañe appearing as Aaron Burr.
Baldeo, then a young Broadway performer known for his work in Kinky Boots, portrayed Peggy Schuyler.
The performance attracted widespread online attention, eventually accumulating nearly 14 million YouTube views.
It was covered by major entertainment publications, including Playbill, BroadwayWorld, and BuzzFeed.
In September 2020, BroadwayWorld revisited memorable performances from MCC Theater's Miscast history, highlighting the continued appeal of past performances.
Most recently, in August 2026, BroadwayWorld published an article titled 'Who We'd Like to See Cast in a Potential GLEE Reboot,' referencing Baldeo alongside Joshua Colley and Luca Padovan.
The renewed attention provides a fitting backdrop for Baldeo's latest announcement.
A Childhood Spent on Broadway
Long before establishing his own performing arts conservatory, Baldeo spent much of his childhood working professionally in the entertainment industry.
His theatrical career includes appearances in several notable productions:
Kinky Boots — Broadway: Baldeo portrayed Young Lola in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
Motown: The Musical — Broadway: He performed as Young Michael Jackson, Young Berry Gordy, and Young Stevie Wonder.
The Bodyguard — Musical Theatre Production and National Tour: Baldeo portrayed Fletcher, continuing his professional theatrical career beyond Broadway.
His professional experience also included appearances in televised performances, theatrical events, and special productions.
Throughout his childhood career, Baldeo developed an understanding of the dedication, discipline, technical preparation, and professionalism required of working performers. Those experiences would later influence his approach to performing arts education.
From Broadway Child Actor to College Graduate and Educator
Following his professional performing career, Baldeo pursued higher education at Montclair State University.
In January 2026, he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, marking another milestone in his artistic and academic development.
Baldeo subsequently continued his professional work as a performing arts educator, sharing his industry knowledge with young artists in educational and professional training environments.
His experience working with students reinforced his belief that comprehensive arts education should extend beyond performance technique.
He envisioned an institution where students could receive rigorous multidisciplinary training while also developing confidence, discipline, professionalism, and the interpersonal skills necessary to navigate both the performing arts industry and everyday life. That vision ultimately led to the establishment of the Douglas Baldeo Conservatory of Performing Arts.
Introducing the Douglas Baldeo Conservatory of Performing Arts
Scheduled to launch in January 2027, the Douglas Baldeo Conservatory of Performing Arts is a new multidisciplinary performing arts conservatory based in Great Neck, New York.
Founded by Baldeo at age 22, the institution will initially serve students between the ages of 10 and 18, offering comprehensive weekend instruction in several artistic disciplines.
The conservatory's curriculum will include:
Dance: Technical development, movement exploration, performance training, and artistic expression.
Acting: Character development, scene study, storytelling, and performance technique.
Singing: Vocal development and musical performance.
Musical Theatre: Integrated training in acting, singing, dance, and theatrical performance.
Etiquette and Professional Development: Communication, presentation, confidence, professionalism, and social etiquette.
The inaugural conservatory program will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, providing students with structured performing arts training throughout the weekend.
DBCOPA will also introduce guest artist masterclasses, allowing students to engage with experienced professionals from various areas of the performing arts industry.
Through its multidisciplinary approach, the conservatory aims to prepare students not only for performance opportunities but also for personal growth and continued artistic development.

Expanding Access Through School Partnerships
In addition to its inaugural weekend program, DBCOPA is developing outreach initiatives throughout Nassau County and Queens.
These initiatives include complimentary introductory performing arts masterclasses designed to introduce students to dance, acting, and musical theatre.
The conservatory is also exploring potential school-based performing arts residency partnerships for the 2027–2028 academic year.
These partnerships would provide schools with opportunities to incorporate professional performing arts instruction into their educational programming.
Through these initiatives, DBCOPA aims to develop meaningful relationships with local schools, families, educators, and community organizations.
Building Toward a Permanent Conservatory
While the inaugural DBCOPA program will operate on weekends, Baldeo's long-term vision extends considerably beyond its January 2027 launch.
Plans include expanding the institution's educational programming, establishing additional community partnerships, and developing a permanent, full-time multidisciplinary performing arts conservatory by 2030.
The envisioned permanent institution would offer comprehensive training in dance, acting, singing, musical theatre, and related performing arts disciplines.
Baldeo's goal is to create an institution where young artists can receive structured, high-quality training while developing the discipline and professionalism necessary for their future endeavors.
A Full-Circle Moment: From Performer to Founder
For Baldeo, establishing DBCOPA represents more than a business venture. It is the continuation of a professional journey that began when he was a child performing on Broadway.
After spending years learning from professional directors, choreographers, performers, and educators, Baldeo is now drawing upon those experiences to build educational opportunities for a new generation.
At 22 years old, he is taking on the responsibilities of entrepreneurship, educational leadership, curriculum development, and institutional planning. The transition reflects a significant evolution in his relationship with the performing arts.
Once the young performer audiences watched onstage, Baldeo is now working to create an environment where future performers can discover and develop their own artistic potential.
Nearly a decade after a viral MCC Miscast performance introduced his work to millions of online viewers, Baldeo is embarking on a new chapter as the founder of his own multidisciplinary performing arts conservatory.
