June 29th marks the opening of the 18th annual Long Island Shakespeare Festival on the Selden campus of Suffolk Community College. Laughter will take center stage for 2 weeks as they present their production of William Shakespeare's COMEDY OF ERRORS. All seating for this production is FREE. The free performances are underwritten by the Suffolk County Community College Association as a gift to Long Island.

A classical comedy that will be sure to have you laughing, COMEDY OF ERRORS is William Shakespeare's story of two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession

The Long Island Shakespeare Festival (LISF) is sponsored by Suffolk Community College to provide Long Island residents and visitors quality professional theatre with emphasis on plays by William Shakespeare. In addition, it serves as a transition for student theatre artists and artisans from Long Island into the business of theatre. Former and current Long Island residents who have created careers in theatre return to the area to perform, direct or design.

All performances take place at the Shea Theatre in the Islp Arts Building of SCCC Ammerman Campus, Selden. Comedy of Errors takes the stage June 29, 30, July 1,6,7 and 8th at 7:00pm and Matinee performances will be held July 2 and 9 at 2:00pm. Admission is free and open to the public.
