3 Graces Theater Co.'s THE POWER OF BIRDS Opens 2/19

By:

3 Graces Theater Co. is pleased to announce the world premiere production of Robin Rice Lichtig's THE POWER OF BIRDS, directed by Elizabeth Bunnell (3Graces Co-Artistic Director). THE POWER OF BIRDS will play a four-week limited engagement at the Milagro Theater at the CSV Education & Cultural Center (107 Suffolk (between Rivington & Delancey). The play is running in rep with GraceNotes presents Prescription Strength Theater, two World Premiere One-Acts commissioned by 3Graces about Healthcare, written by Patrick Link and Sharyn Rothstein. Performances begin Friday, February 19 and continue through Saturday, March 13. Opening Night is Monday, February 22 (8 p.m.).

When an ornithologist father suddenly abandons his family to follow the birds, Mom moves her 12 year-old twins and mother-in-law to a new state for a fresh start. Zoe thinks her heart will stop beating without her father; her bookish ivy-league bound twin brother deals pot at school in an attempt to be cool; Grandma just wants to sexually commune with her late husband via the sunset; and Mom is convinced that some good old fashioned team sports and a properly assembled lasagna will fix the family. Any way the wind blows, when the birds begin their winter migration, this family will magically never be the same.

The production stars Margot Avery (Nickel & Dimed, As it is in Heaven, Last Train to Nibroc) as Lily, Emma Galvin (Mike and Morgan Show) as Zoe, Noah Galvin (Wintuk-Broadway, Les Miserables-National Tour) as Charlie, Annie McGovern (Six Gumbas and a Wannabe, Nickel & Dimed, Flyer) as Loretta, and Jay Potter (Che, Part 1, The Good Shepherd, Rescue Me) as Phillip.

The production features scenic design by Tijana Bjelajac, costume design by Brooke Cohen, and lighting design by Joshua Scherr. Tracy Bersley is the movement director, Kelli Lynn Harrison is the dramaturg, and Maggie Davis is the props master. John D. Ivy is the sound designer, Patrick T. Cecala is the technical director and Melissa A. Nathan is the stage manager. Elizabeth Bunnell, Kelli Lynn Harrison, Annie McGovern & Chelsea Silverman are the producers.

THE POWER OF BIRDS plays the following regular schedule through Saturday, March 13.:
Thursdays at 8 p.m.
Fridays at 8 p.m.
Saturdays at 8 p.m.
Sundays at 3 p.m.

There is an added performance for opening night Monday February 22nd at 8 p.m.
