The Diamond Awards Ceremony is Walton Arts Center's second annual celebration of achievement and excellence in high school musical theater, modeled after Broadway's Tony Awards. Twelve Northwest Arkansas high schools have had their productions adjudicated by industry professionals, and student finalists have participated in a weekend of training with local music and dance professionals. The ceremony will feature performances by cast members from the participating schools, with awards presented for best actor and actress, best supporting performers, best ensemble performance, the Sparkle Award for outstanding educator, and the student-voted Spirit of the Diamond Award. The best actress and actor winners will qualify to compete at the Broadway League Foundation's National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City, with Walton Arts Center covering the cost of the trip.
