Opera Fayetteville presents Dark Sisters, a musical exploration of one womans dangerous attempt to escape her life in the Fundamentalist Mormon (FLDS) church. Two performances only in the Walton Arts Center's intimate Starr Theatre! Nico Muhly and Stephen Karams daring chamber opera tells the story of Eliza whofollowing a raid on the compound where she livesfinds herself grappling with issues of faith, family, and personal identity as well as the impact of these doubts on her relationships with her daughter and sister-wivesthe only family she has ever known. The lyrical score is inspired by hymns, folksong, and the landscape of the American West. Starring mezzo-soprano Margaret Newcomb and conducted by Cris Frisco with stage direction by Andreas Hager.
