Swiss born, New York-based saxophonist, vocalist and composer María Grand brings her new quartet to Sam First as the first performance in the new Feed The Fire series, with Miriam Elhajli, Dominique Sanders and Anthony Fung. The music centers on rhythm, collective improvisation and personal, open expression, moving between high-energy passages and quieter, more spacious ones. The project draws on her Swiss roots, re-contextualized through the lens of a New York City jazz artist.
