Stage Door Entertainment, in conjunction with Super Summer Theatre, is pleased to announce auditions for its upcoming production of West Side Story.

The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" is transported to 1950's New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the American "Jets" and the Puerto Rican "Sharks." Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice makes West Side Story one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

West Side Story is based on a conception of Jerome Robbins and features a Book by Arthur Laurents, Music by Leonard Bernstein, and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The production will feature much of the original Jerome Robbins choreography. West Side Story is produced by Stage Door Entertainment, in conjunction with Super Summer Theatre, and will be presented in July 2009 at Spring Mountain Ranch, a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre located in Red Rock Canyon.
