Table 8 Presents Jennifer Haley's BREADCRUMBS, Beginning Tonight

Table 8 Productions presents the Vegas premiere of Breadcrumbs, a new play by award-winning playwright Jennifer Haley (Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom). Directed by Stephen R. Sisson in his area debut, Breadcrumbs stars local actresses Gail Romero and Monica Delgado as two women struggling to leaving their mark on this world before time - and memory - escape their grasp.

Alida, a reclusive fiction writer diagnosed with dementia, must depend upon Beth, a troubled young caretaker, to complete her autobiography. In a symbiotic battle of wills, they delve into the dark woods of the past, unearthing a tragedy that shatters their notions of language, loneliness and essential self. Using "Hansel and Gretel" as a stunning allegory, Breadcrumbs becomes a gripping fairy tale for modern times.

"Although Alzheimer's is an element in the script, Breadcrumbs isn't an 'Alzheimer's play'," says director Sisson. "The tragic disease becomes a background to the struggle between the two women." In the play, the titular 'breadcrumbs' represent both the trail that fictional Gretel left during her journey through the woods, as well as the metaphorical breadcrumbs of Alida's memory that disappear throughout time. "The mystery here isn't whether Alida will complete her autobiography," says Sisson. "That ending is unfortunately predisposed. Instead, the mystery becomes which crumbs will be left undiscovered by Beth. It's a very human story that contains some crucial slivers of hope."

Breadcrumbs will be presented at Las Vegas Little Theatre's Studio Theater, 3920 Schiff Drive. The limited-run production begins tonight, October 16, and plays through November 1 with performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Thursday and Sunday shows, and $18 for Friday and Saturday shows.
