Ronnie Spector Comes to The Orleans Showroom This Weekend

By:
Ronnie Spector, the former legendary lead singer of the all-girl R&B group the Ronettes, will bring her Christmas-themed show to The Orleans Showroom this weekend, Dec. 19-20.

Spector and the Ronettes first exploded onto the music scene in the 1960s. The three-member band featured Spector, accompanied by her sister Estelle Bennett and cousin Nedra Talley. The Ronettes got their first break in 1963 with hits like "Be My Baby," "Walking in the Rain," "Do I Love You" and "I Can Hear Music."

In the 1970s, Spector left the Ronettes to pursue a solo career and released her first album "Siren" in 1980. In 1986, Spector found her name on Billboard's Hot 100 chart with American rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Eddie Money's sampling of "Be My Baby" in his hit single "Take Me Home Tonight."

Spector appeared on compilations and soundtracks throughout the 1990s, including "80's Monster Rock," "Sounds of the Eighties: 1985-1986" and "The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True." Aside from her musical career, Spector focused on the release of her autobiography, "Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts and Madness."

She returned to the studio in 1999 and released the critically-acclaimed "She Talks to Rainbows," a five-song album produced by Joey Ramone and Daniel Rey from punk rock band the Ramones. Spector is the only American vocalist to be backed up by all four Beatles. She also recorded with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper and Bruce Springsteen. Spector's most recent work was 2010's "Ronnie Spector's Best Christmas Ever," featuring five original rock 'n' roll holiday-themed songs.

Showtime is 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are available starting from $29.95, plus taxes and fees and can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office by calling 702.284.7777 or visiting www.orleanscasino.com.
