International Celebrity Images presents the 23rd Production of THE REEL AWARDS, an entertaining two and a half-hour tongue in cheek parody, spoof, and tribute to the real Academy Awards on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, 129 East Fremont Street, in Las Vegas, NV 89101. Awards will be presented in 14 categories for excellence in the field of impersonation interspersed with live performances by some of the industry's most well-known tribute artists. Co-hosted by two very impersonators, Bobbie Winslow as Fran Drescher and Dee Dee Hanson as Joan Rivers, this surreal show will be held in the Showroom of The Golden Nugget Hotel from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. on Monday, February 20th. The two-day Tribute Artists Convention will follow the event.

THE REEL AWARDS kicks off with Red Carpet Arrivals, Press Interviews, and public viewing from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Fremont Street in front of the Golden Nugget hosted by Joan Rivers impersonator, Dee Dee Hanson. Awards Show Nominees, Presenters, and Entertainers along with VIP Celebrity Impersonators and Tribute Artists in full character will strut their stuff on the red carpet surrounded by paparazzi, cameras, news media, and fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the faux stars.

THE REEL AWARDS SHOW will feature live vocal performances (no lip syncing) by an impressive roster of talent in tribute to their respective characters.

General Admission Tickets for THE REEL AWARDS are $18.50 each (plus Live Entertainment Tax and service fee) and may be purchased through the Golden Nugget Box Office at 866-946-5336 or online at http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas/show_reelawards.asp

MORE INFO:
Janna Joos, Producer, says "We are thrilled to be celebrating our 23rd production of THE REEL AWARDS in the celebrity
impersonator capitol of the world, Las Vegas. Since its inception in 1992, THE REEL AWARDS has always been a time to bring together the best of the professionals in the Celebrity Impersonation business for a really fun-filled and entertaining awards show including live performances, comedic show hosts and awards. The show is full of high camp, backed by a whole lot of talent; it's a real hoot! During that same week, our Tribute Artists Convention offers participants the opportunity to meet and network with others in the business, attend seminars and perform in showcases for talent bookers, managers, agents, producers and the general public." http://www.TheReelAwards.com

Unlike the real Academy Awards where the winners receive gold Oscar statuettes, winning recipients of THE REEL AWARDS are presented with a 16" inscribed "film reel can" by fellow Celebrity Impersonators in awards show style. In other words, "The Can Please!" Recipients of THE REEL AWARDS are nominated by their industry peers through an electronic ballot process based on their performances and accomplishments throughout the year.

HISTORY:
The 23rd Production of THE REEL AWARDS recognizes the talents and achievements of outstanding individuals or groups
who perform in the field of impersonation. THE REEL AWARDS was initially conceived in 1989 by Janna Joos of International Celebrity Images and Alana Joos of Entertainment Express. Together they came up with the idea of an Awards Show for Celebrity Impersonators and Look-Alikes as a way of acknowledging their professional performances in the entertainment industry, as well as encouraging up and coming new talent.

The first Awards Show was presented in March 1992 in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the home of the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1928. THE REEL AWARDS spoofs other awards shows that are like the Academy Awards. Instead of the "Oscar," the award recipients receive the "Can," which is a film reel inscribed with the award category and winner's name.

Honors are awarded to those who have contributed their talents to the entertainment industry and to individuals who have paralleled the success of some of Hollywood's most famous entertainers in movies, television, and music, as well as famous names in politics and sports. Recipients of THE REEL AWARDS are nominated by their industry peers through an electronic ballot process based on their performances and accomplishments throughout the year.

The roster of Celebrity Impersonators and Look-Alikes has made this event a favorite with the public and media alike.

THE REEL AWARDS have been featured in the media from Los Angeles to Austria, Japan, and Israel, as well as on the BBC, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Bill Geist, and CBS Sunday Morning Show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, E! Entertainment, People magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, among numerous other news outlets and publications.
