Michael Feinstein Comes to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 3/15

By:

Five-time Grammy® nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein comes to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on March 15.  Feinstein will perform selections from his 2008 CD tribute to Frank Sinatra, The Sinatra Project, as well as his recent follow-up album, The Sinatra Project, Volume II – The Good Life.

Tickets for Michael Feinstein – The Sinatra Project in Reynolds Hall start at $26 are available now at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts by calling (702) 982-7805 or by visiting www.thesmithcenter.com.  Tickets can also be purchased in person at The Smith Center ticket office at 361 Symphony Park Avenue.

For his choice of subject, Feinstein explains that, "Sinatra considered himself, first and foremost, an interpreter of song, and his influence on other entertainers is incalculable. He has become so thoroughly entrenched in the history of American popular song that it is impossible to open your mouth and sing without his influence being part of that."

Unlike a myriad of others who have shaped Sinatra tributes, Feinstein had no desire to copy the late artist but rather reflect his taste in music.  Feinstein's goal is to create a show that would explore Sinatra's style of singing and music while paying tribute to his collaborators Nelson Riddle, Billy May, Alex Stordahl and the dozens of other musicians he worked with through the years from Count Basite to Quincy Jones.
