Las Vegas Little Theatre (LVLT) will enter it's 30th season presenting Urinetown, The Musical, July 6th-July 22nd, 2007 for 11 performances only at 3920 Schiff Drive, Las Vegas, NV.

"One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.  In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the 'comedic romp' into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter," state press notes.

Walter Niejadlik, LVLT board president and Urinetown director said, "LVLT is thrilled to be able to offer the Las Vegas Premiere of this most original musical to the community.  Urinetown is a truly clever and original musical and these are the types of productions that we strive to provide to our community".

LVLT is supported in partnership with the Southern Nevada Water Association (SNWA), JC Davis stated, "LVLT, with their production of Urinetown, gives SNWA an opportunity for promoting efficient water use in the valley".

Urinetown was produced on Broadway in September 2001 by the Araca Group & Dodger Theatricals in association with Theatre Dreams, Inc. and Lauren Mitchell; music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann, and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis.

The mission of Las Vegas Little Theatre is to increase the awareness of theatre arts in Southern Nevada, provide quality productions at affordable prices and offer Southern Nevada residents hands-on, educational opportunities in all facets of theatre production.  LVLT is the oldest community theatre in Southern Nevada and is considered by many to be the industry leader in the area, due to longevity and being the only community theatre to have a (leased) facility to call home.  The organization subsists primarily on ticket sales and small donations from patrons.
