Powerhouse Broadway belter Niki Scalera celebrates the life and career of Dame Shirley Bassey with her one-woman cabaret concert, "Bassey and Me," at The Smith Center's intimate 240-seat Cabaret Jazz showroom on Saturday evening, Jan. 14, 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale starting at $25 and can be purchased at The Smith Center Box Office by phone 702-749-2000, or online at www.thesmithcenter.com.

A Broadway veteran, Scalera brings her unique perspective of the extraordinary life and career of British mega-star Bassey to The Smith Center just in time to celebrate Bassey's 80th birthday. The most successful British recording artist of all time, Bassey is known for her exciting vocal power, incredible range and passionate performances on concert stages all over the world. Inspired by Bassey's remarkable voice and career, Scalera not only pays special tribute to Bassey, but brings stories of her own world as a Broadway performer and pop singer to the stage as she both parallels and contrasts her life and career with that of Dame Bassey.

Las Vegas audiences will remember seeing Scalera in "We Will Rock You" at the Paris and as one of the featured vocalists with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. She appeared on Broadway in Disney's "Tarzan." Then, while starring on Broadway as Penny Pingleton in "Hairspray," she began bringing her fascination with Bassey to the stage with a cabaret concert at New York's Laurie Beechman Theatre. Returning to Las Vegas, Scalera teamed up with long-time friend and colleague, Keith Thompson, musical director of "Jersey Boys," and co-founder and host of "The Composers Showcase," and began developing the concert into a musical and theatrical tour-de-force that not only highlights the music and career of Bassey, but also showcases the spectacular vocal prowess of Scalera.

Thompson, with his eight-piece onstage band, offers some fresh and original arrangements of many of the mega-hit classics made famous by Bassey. Songs include "This is My Life," "I Who Have Nothing," "I Am What I Am," "The Greatest Performance of My Life," "Never, Never, Never," and, of course, some of Bassey's most famous hits from the James Bond movies "Goldfinger," "Moonraker" and "Diamonds are Forever." Directed by Broadway veteran Randy Slovacek, Scalera's one-woman blockbuster show is not to be missed!
