American Heartland Theatre will bring Roger Bean's award winning, cotton candy-colored, non-stop pop musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes, to Kansas City. Featuring four fabulous talents - Molly Denninghoff, Colleen Grate, Liz Clark Golson and Jessalyn Kincaid - as the crinoline-clad girl-group, The Wonderettes, with direction by Jerry Jay Cranford. AHT is pleased to continue the tradition of supporting local and regional talent in the second production in their 25th anniversary season.

Performances begin November 4th and continue through December 24th, 2011. Press night is November 9th at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at the American Heartland Theatre Box Office on the 3rd floor of the Crown Center Shops, online at www.ahtkc.com, or by calling 816-842-9999.

"You won't find a more delightful girl group. These irrepressible, bubbly Wonderettes are singing their hearts out in this charming, fast-paced musical. Beautiful singing, well-honed timing, often poignant and highly entertaining!" - The Associated Press

The Marvelous Wonderettes is a high-energy musical that has "shoop-de-dooed" its way to record-setting ticket sales and awards during its spectacular run in Los Angeles. The Marvelous Wonderettes received the 2007 Los Angeles Ovation Award for Best Musical and was also nominated for the 2009 Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Musical. In New York City, The Marvelous Wonderettes received a 2009 Drama League award nomination for Distinguished Production of a Musical as well as a Broadway.com Audience Award nomination for Favorite New Off-Broadway Musical, proving that this nostalgic ride is, indeed, "Marvelous"!

"Don't buy a ticket - buy two! It's a show you'll want to see twice! A laugh-a-minute songfest!" - Backstage

Follow The Wonderettes - Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts and voices to match - from their 1958 Springfield High School prom to their ten year reunion! These girls tell us about their lives and loves as they perform beautifully arranged high-octane and soulful renditions of pop favorites from the fifties and sixties. These memorable songs include "Mr. Sandman," "Dream Lover," "Stupid Cupid," "Lipstick on Your Collar," "It's In His Kiss," "Son Of A Preacher Man," and "RESPECT."

The cast and creative team for The Marvelous Wonderettes includes:

Molly Denninghoff (Cindy Lou), making her AHT debut. Molly has been seen in several productions throughout Kansas City. Her most recent roles include Julie in Carousel at the Living Room Theatre, Dainty June in Gypsy for Musical Theatre Heritage, and Marvin's Wife in In Trousers for Egads Theatre Company.

Colleen Grate (Missy) returns to AHT where she has previously been seen as Darlene in The Honky Tonk Angels, Rona Lisa in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and several characters in It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. As a Kansas City native, she's been seen aroundtown at Kansas City Repertory Theatre (Cabaret), Starlight Theatre (Footloose, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph...), The New Theatre (The Music Man, The Sound of Music), and Chestnut Fine Arts Center (Crooners, Sentimental Journey).

Liz Clark Golson (Suzy) also makes her AHT debut in this production. Originally from Alabama, she now lives in New York with her husband, Grant Golson, who appeared in last seasons holiday show, Plaid Tidings at AHT. Liz has been nominated twice for The New Hampshire Theatre Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for Cabaret and Hair.

Jessalyn Kincaid (Betty Jean) is returning to AHT, where she was recently seen in The Honky Tonk Angels. Jessalyn has turned in critically-acclaimed performances on almost every professional stage in town, including the Kansas City Repertory, The New Theatre Restaurant, Coterie Theatre, Quality Hill Playhouse, Unicorn Theatre and Musical Theater Heritage.

Jerry Jay Cranford (Direction) is returning to direct at AHT where he previously starred in the hit show The 39 Steps.
