Kansas City Actors Theatre to Kick Off 11th Season with THE GIN GAME
Kansas City Actors Theatre kicks off its intimate 11th Season with D.L. Coburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, The Gin Game, directed by Dennis Hennessy.
Humor and psychological warfare crackle over a card game between two quick-witted residents of an assisted living facility. Though neither Fonsia nor Weller is quite ready to admit their weaknesses - or their secrets - their game of gin becomes a metaphor for life as each one wages an emotional battle against aging. Performances will take place at Union Station's H&R Block City Stage Previews start August 12th, opening night will be August 15th and performances will conclude on August 30th.
The cast features Kansas City Actors Theatre's newest Artistic Committee Member, Victor Raider-Wexler as Weller. Victor was last seen in the company's "A Summer of Mystery" in 2012. Fonsia is played by, local favorite, Marilyn Lynch. This will be Marilyn's debut with Kansas City Actors Theatre.
Craig Benton stage manages. The design team includes Jeff Misenheimer/Set, Shane Rowse/ Lighting, Roger Stoddard/Sound Effects, Daniel Warneke/Sound Designer, Sara Oliver/Costumes and Alex Murphy/Props.
The Gin Game opens with Previews August 12-14 at H&R Block City Stage in Union Station. Opening night is August 15 and performances will conclude on August 30. Audience talk-backs will follow performances on August 16, August 21, August 22, and August 26.
