Complete with action figure puppets, a beauty pageant, warring narrators and general theatrical insanity, The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza will be presented March 4 - 6, at the Coterie Theatre, level 1 Crown Center Shops.

Creation myths such as Pandora's Box and Cronos and the Titans compete for the spotlight with other famous myths like Jason and the Argonauts (the original Super Friends). Culminating in a heart-pounding version of The Iliad, this free-wheeling play is wild, silly, and a complete blast for young adults.

"The play is fast paced and mixes pop culture references with the drama of mythology," said MeghAnn Henry, director and choreographer of The Greek Mythology Olympiagnaza and Coterie education director. "With the popularity of the Percy Jackson series, mythology is more hip than ever. This play puts a pop culture spin on mythology. It's a crazy show."

The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza is a co-production with the Coterie and UMKC Theatre's professional training program. The weekend performances at the Coterie complete a five-week school tour for grades 5-12 that reached more than 2,200 students at 20 sites. This is the first time the Coterie has produced a school tour for junior high and high school students. The production is part of the Coterie's Preteen/Young Adult Series and is funded in part by the Missouri Arts Council (MAC) and the ArtsKC Fund.

The Olymiaganza Viewtube Series, the Coterie's video series with designers and actors, is posted at www.coterietheatre.org and includes the short video: "What Not to Wear, The Mythology Edition."
