Michael Parola, prod.; Jenyvette Vega, casting dir. PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION Casting Core Ensemble's 2022 season. Season includes "Ain't I A Woman" & “Unbought” (Kim Hines, writer. Runs Jan- Mar with a possible extension) The Core Ensemble is a Multicultural Chamber Music Theatre touring company centered on educational plays performed by a solo actor with a chamber trio of percussion, cello & piano. REHEARSAL AND PRODUCTION DATES & LOCATIONS Season rehearses in NYC & Lake Worth, FL. All shows will rehearse for three weeks then tour for five weeks with possible extension. COMPENSATION Pays $500/wk. (three perfs. min. @ $ 165/perf.) plus $50/day per diem while on tour. SEEKING TALENT Actress: 18+, African American 2022 season with possible extension. Video submission deadline is August 11th Callbacks will be in person on August 16th and 17th in NYC. Per appointment. AUDITION & SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS A monitor will be provided on the day of the callback. Actors interested in "Ain't I A Woman" should also prepare a short spiritual or folk song to be sung a cappella. A one-woman play with music that celebrates the lives and times of four significant African American Women: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. Text is by Kim Hines. The musical score is drawn from the heartfelt spirituals of the Deep South, the urban exuberance of the Jazz Age and concert music by African American composers. Seeking:

One Female Actor to play all four characters. Extremely versatile actress needed. Strong command of language and physicality needed to embody these four characters at various life stages, from ages 30 - 80, with dignity and gentle humor. Strong mezzo/alto jazzy singing voice a plus. Unbought

African-American Actress (25-45) to portray 3 spirited women: Ida B. Wells, American investigative journalist, activist, and early civil rights leader. Sally Hemmings, multi-racial slave owned by Thomas Jefferson and mother to six of his children. Shirley Chisholm, first African-American woman in Congress (1968) and first woman and African-American to run for President (1972). Strong mezzo/alto required.
