In late July of 1967, there was but one table - on an empty lot on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida, an unlikely spot 50 years ago for what would become an icon in the Jacksonville cultural landscape and within the national theater scene.

BWW Blog: Jess Pillmore - Reimagining Art, Family, and Education
by Guest Blogger: Jess Pillmore - November 03, 2016
If we can devise stories that change a culture's consciousness, why not a business model? If we can suspend disbelief on stage, why not in our day-to-day lives? If we can transform from role to role, yet still be ourselves, why not from profession to profession, city to city, and goal to goal? If we can make a family out of our tour-mates, why not tour with our family?

The 5 & Dime and Delegal Law Office to Present NEVER THE SINNER
by BWW News Desk - October 30, 2016
Chicago, May 21,1924. Nathan Leopold Jr., age 18, and Richard Loeb, age 19, killed 14 year old Bobby Franks and we're quickly apprehended when Leopold's glasses were found near the corpse. Clarence Darrow defended them, pleading eloquently against capital punishment. Why would wealthy young men murder an innocent boy? What demons lurked behind Loeb's flashing good looks? Behind Leopold's saturnine intellect? This exquisite Off Broadway hit explores the complex relationship between these two who longed to create a private world of fevered intellect and romantic passion. The author suggests that, given twists of fate and character, Leopold or Loeb could be anyone who has loved too much, had a broken heart, wanted to prove everlasting devotion, or looked at a loved one and thought ' I'd die for you... I'd kill for you.' This is a love story set to themes of crime and punishment,  the press, the times, humanism,  Nietzsche philosophy and the end of the jazz age.

BWW Preview: Territory Folks Welcome Audiences to Limelight's 25th Season
by Michael Lipp - September 26, 2016
Audiences at Limelight's 25th season opener will be treated to a cozier, more down-home OKLAHOMA! on their intimate mainstage, but that's by design. Executive Director, Beth Lambert, who also directs this production of the landmark Pulitzer Prize-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, didn't want this to be the 'show that you do to pay for the other shows in your season.' It's a show that she has always wanted to do since performing with her mother in a summer stock production when Lambert was in fifth grade. However, Lambert thought it was too large of a production for the Limelight space.
BWW Feature: New Theatre Jacksonville Technical Director Designs Austen
by Michael Lipp - September 26, 2016
Jon Jory's adaptation of Jane Austen's PRIDE & PREJUDICE posed significant scenic and lighting design challenges for Theatre Jacksonville's new Technical Director, Tim Watson. 'You've got about 25 locations and you can literally change from one to another on a single line,' Watson explains. 'There's no way you can do full sets for each location, but it's written that way - to be minimal. It's difficult to jump between so many locations and be so fast and so fluid. Jon Jory didn't want black-out scene changes, so it's more of an environment rather than actual locations.' Director Amy Canning agrees and calls the show 'very minimalist, but seriously complex with lots of moving parts and pieces.'
