The School of Theatre at Florida State University presents Almost, Maine written by John Cariani. Directed by School of Theatre Assistant Professor Michael Hayden, this production follows residents from the town of Almost, Maine as they struggle to make sense of this strange thing called love. The production runs tonight, March 27 - April 4, 2015.

Come gaze up at the northern lights on this clear winter night with citizens of Almost, Maine as they navigate the ups and downs of falling in and out of love. Funny, sexy, and sad, Almost, Maine explores the many angles of relationships, from broken hearts to blooming infatuation. The New York Sun calls Almost, Maine "A snowy charmer. These nine tales of love in the time of frostbite have a winning glow that proves surprisingly contagious."

Almost, Maine features freshmen BFA Acting majors Jelysbeth Bobadilla and Shane Howell. They are joined by fellow BFA Acting majors Brianna Hart-Cox, Cecil Jennings, Steven Carter, and Cindy Alfonso. The small company portrays a wide range of characters, with each actor playing multiple roles. This production features scenic design by guest designer and FSU alum Ruth A. Brandvik, costume design by MFA Costume Design candidate Ariel Couture, and lighting design by FSU alum Bri Weintraub.

Almost, Maine was first produced by the Portland Stage Company in 2004 in Portland, Maine. It was later opened Off-Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theatre on January 12, 2006. The production featured Miriam Shor, most recently seen in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Around the time of writing Almost, Maine, Cariani was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical at the 58th Annual Tony Awards for his work as Motel in Fiddler on the Roof. Apart from his notoriety as a playwright, Cariani is best known for his television and film work, starring in NBC'S Law and Order as well as Numb3rs.
