Roland Schimmelpfennig-a name which we Italians sounds like a tongue-twister-is the author of the moment. Born in 1967 in Göttingen, he worked as a journalist and freelance writer in Istanbul; then it was given to the theatre at the Münchner Kammerspielen, the Berliner Schaubühne, at the Royal Court in London, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
"Visit to the father" tells the story of a young man, Peter, who wants to meet his father ever known, was conceived in a casual relationship and that he thought was dead. The man, Heinrich, a mature intellectual who has been working on a translation of "paradise lost" by Milton, lives between ambiguous ties, surrounded by women: his wife Edith, daughter, daughter of the first reading and the nephew of his wife, a professor who goes to find him carrying his daughter ... Heinrich falls in love with the young nephew. Edith is seduced by Peter, which was unaware of the existence ... Using Chekhov for telling a story today, thinks the concept of Schimmelpfenning memory, history and culture, and the "legacy" in the relationship between two generations.

A world of heartless, fathers trapped in a system that does not want to get out, is under siege by young people without a history, a past and identity, but who, like Peter, cultivate a desire for vengeance end in itself ".
