STAGE TUBE: First Look at Highlights of FOREVER PLAID, PLAID TIDINGS

The hilarious holiday musical sequel to the record-breaking FOREVER PLAID, PLAID TIDINGS, entertains Theatre at the Center audiences November 15 through December 23 at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. Theatre at the Center Artistic Director William Pullinsi will direct the production starring Rod Thomas as "Francis", Scott Stratton as "Smudge", Frank J. Paul as "Jinx" and Jonathan Wagner as "Sparky". CBS Chicago's own Bill Kurtis also lends his celebrity voice for a special part in the production. Check out highlights of the show below.

Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, Kurt Elling, brings a bit of New York City to Indy. Featuring music from his recently released recording, Elling highlights songs that came out of New York's Brill Building, famous for its three decades of musical tenants from Jimmy Van Huesen to Paul Simon. The show, which has received high critical acclaim for 'its beautifully crafted, razor-edged mix of bittersweet ballads, reconfigured doo-wop, and upgraded soul," includes such songs as "Come Fly with Me," "You Send Me," "On Broadway," "A House is Not a Home," and more.

The Buck Creek Players will continue their 2012-2013 season 'In the Spotlight' with the Yuletide fantasy A Little Christmas Spirit, written by Pat Cook. Opening tonight, November 30th, and running for three weekends through Sunday, December 16th, curtain times will be at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 2:30 p.m. matinees offered on Sundays.

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has announced that renowned opera star and Indianapolis native Angela Brown will co-host this year's annual holiday production of Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration with noted Broadway actor Ben Crawford, who starred on the Great White Way in Shrek the Musical. Brown will become the first host of Yuletide Celebration who was born and raised in this city.

Madame Walker Theatre Center Celebrates 85 Years with Week of Events, Now thru 11/15

The Madame Walker Theatre Center held its grand opening on December 26th, 1927. The Walker Building, located on the Indiana Avenue corridor, was the center of entertainment, business and pride for the city's African-American community from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Before the age of electrified amplification, songs had to be sung loudly in order to be heard. The introduction of the microphone introduced a new, intimate style of performing which became known as crooning. Todd Murray follows the history of crooning, beginning in the 1920's through today. With lush popular ballads, swing, Latin beat, all with lyricists such as Berlin, Porter, Lerner/Lowe, Hal David, and Leonard Cohen, Murray demonstrates that all popular music has its roots in crooning.

The Encore Association has announced the nominees for Plays and Musicals for the 2011- 2012 Season of Encore. The winners will be announced at the 43rd Annual Encore Awards Fundraiser which will be held tonight, October 29, 2012 at the Madame Walker Theatre Center, 617 Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis. The evening will begin with a social hour from 6 to 7 pm; with the fundraiser starting at 7 pm.
