The Efroymson Family Fund, a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) has awarded a grant of $75,000 to the Great American Songbook Foundation to sponsor its signature educational program, The Songbook Academy.

This generous grant will give high school singers in grades 9-12 the life-changing opportunity to work with music industry professionals and educators from top college arts programs. Students experience firsthand the uniquely American and culturally significant music known as the Great American Songbook.

"The Songbook Academy is a transformative experience," said Michael Feinstein, founder of the Great American Songbook Foundation and Songbook Academy. "We spend every moment of our time sharing, educating, and developing a love for this music and its history in a way that we feel will change the lives of our students forever. Thanks to the generous support of the Efroymson Family Fund, we can provide a world class educational experience for students that will have a lasting impact," said Feinstein.

The Songbook Academy is a collaborative, rewarding, and fun experience for high school students to learn about America's important musical heritage. Students have the opportunity to participate in workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and master classes with music and theatre industry professionals, as well as educators from top college arts programs from across the country. The program will take place July 16-23, 2016, on the campus of the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Ind., the home of the Great American Songbook Foundation.
