Putnam County Playhouse to Hold CLUE THE MUSICAL Auditions, 4/1-4/2

Greencastle's Putnam County Playhouse will hold auditions for CLUE THE MUSICAL, a show based on the board game by Parker Brothers, on April 1 at 3pm and April 2 at 7pm in the Rehearsal Center (Hazel Day Longden Theatre). The production will perform Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays June 7-16. CLUE's book was written by Peter DePietro, with lyrics by Tom Chiodo, and music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker, Vinnie Martucci. Putnam County Playhouse's production will be directed by Ric McFadden.

Originally performing Off-Broadway, CLUE THE MUSICAL brings the internationally popular board game of the same name to life on stage. This is an interactive musical starting just as the game does, with three audience members selecting one card each from three oversized decks and placing them in an envelope marked "Confidential." The envelope is then left untouched until the end of the production. This is a unique murder mystery experience because the chosen cards will determine the ending of the show, which has 216 possible conclusions, as well as some interchangeable dialogue between certain characters which are delivered as the play progresses.

The box office is open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (or curtain) during performance weeks only. Individual tickets are $10.00 and season tickets are $35.00. The Putnam County Playhouse is active from June thru September each year. It presents two musicals and two plays during those sixteen weeks. Every other year, a children's workshop play is also produced. The Putnam County Playhouse was organized in 1962 by a group of people in Greencastle, Indiana. Their purpose was outlined in their philosophy, and the motto of the group was, "To provide the people of the county and the surrounding area with the opportunity to participate in and enjoy live theatre." For the first seasons, the plays and musicals were presented in various venues around the town of Greencastle. For the seasons of 1981 and 1982, plays and musicals were presented on an outdoor stage with bleacher seating. By 1983, the funds had been raised to convert the larger structure, a barn built in 1918, into an intimate 220-seat theatre. The Hazel Day Longden Barn Theatre had its grand opening on June 4, 1983. Past performers presented a program of scenes and songs that had been produced by PCP in its early years. Most recently, the seating system was completely replaced and the theater now seats 198 people.
